So my truck has 32k miles on it, 3ish months till the warranty expires. I had my shop do driveline fluid change and check the brakes since it has 32k on on it and I ride her hard...but I don’t abuse her.

Anyways they tell me that the brakes are wearing uneven. For the front I have 6mm up front and 9mm in the rear(of the front brake pad) and in the rear brakes I have 8mm front and 9mm rear. My shop basically told me it could be bad calipers or the slide that the pad rides on is rusted. (Yea that shop should have done more investigation but that’s another story)

So should I bring it to toys to and have them look for defect? When I bought the truck originally it had warped brake rotors at 250 miles.

Truck is leveled, icon rebounds and 315/70/17 (maybe 75 I forget). Do you think they try to blame it on heavier tires (because the wheels are actually lighter than stock) I think I’m around 11lbs heavier over stick per corner.

Maybe your shop is being hypervigilant for your safety. Or, maybe they're just eager to sell you a lot of easy, costly brake work?

As @Txexplorer23 said, some unevenness in brake pad wear is not unusual. Slick scum bag once told me I needed new brakes at 30K miles during a state inspection. You see what he did there, right? It's unethical, if not illegal, to tell the customer he needs unnecessary work during a state inspection. I asked if it would pass state inspection, and he had to say, Yes. When I sold the car at 80K+ miles, it still had just under half the pad lining remaining.

New pad lining thickness is 11.9 mm. Toyota specifies retirement (minimum) pad thickness as 1 mm. Your lining thicknesses are at about 1/2 to 3/4 life remaining in spite of hard use. You can spend $300-$400 getting your brakes fixed, and in about 30K miles, they'll look pretty much the same as they do now. Maybe worse, if the shop uses their favorite cheap parts (cheap for them, not for you).

If you take it in to Toyota, they'll tell you your brakes are fine with normal wear if they're an honest dealer.

Thanks for the info! I’ve changed brakes once ever and that was on a busted ass s10 lol. So I don’t really know. But I was kinda thinking shit if I’m at 50% now with 32k I’m prolly doing pretty good anyways so fuck it?:notsure:

I just saw your sig "Upstate New York (The Real New York)". :D

Most members won't understand what that means, but I agree completely. When I first moved to Schenectady, and explored outside the tri-cities, it seemed like the entire state was nothing but heavy woods populated by good, hard-working, honest people that didn't cheat you or bs you. Apparently that's changed some now, just as it has over the entire country. I liked living there, but the snow got too deep and cold to move back again.
