Why are they allowed to wear these? It is a violation of United States Code 4 USC 8 (g). You would think that civil servants would want to obey the law. You would think that their bosses would want them to follow the law as well. There is no criminal penalty for it but it is pretty f’ed up. I get nauseous when I see one.

I am not anti-police or anti-fire in any way except when it comes to bad cops or bad firemen. They shouldn’t even be on the force.

But I really want to know what makes them think they deserve their own flag? Why do they think they are special? They shouldn’t have the same flag as their neighbor? They shouldn’t have the same flag as soldiers?

As an American “their” flag offends me. As a veteran, “their” flag disgusts me. Join the rest of us Americans.

Thanks for sharing. Thanks for your military service. Not sure what you’re trying to start here but I don’t think you’re in the right place.

OUR flag is exactly why they are free to have THEIR flag.

    Thanks for your service.

One could ask you the same about military units that have their own flag and or patch.

I still haven't figured out how to multi-quote. LOL

    To several posts above.

Anyone can have their own flag. Just not a variation of the US flag. Where did I ever say people or orgs, or units, can't have their own flags?

You all obviously missed the part of my post that it is a violation of Chapter 4 United States Code Section 8 paragraph (g). (ie breaking a Federal Law)

"(g) The flag should never have placed upon it, nor on any part of it, nor attached to it any mark, insignia, letter, word, figure, design, picture, or drawing of any nature."

That is where I have the problem. The code was established to make sure that these two flags didn't happen. They didn't want organizations bastardizing the US Flag.

Here is a link to the particular part of our federal laws.

And since it's on right sleeve shouldn't the Stars be facing foward like the patch above it?

Not saying that I really like the design but it is perfectly fine and legal.

The military are allowed to do their own patches. They operate under different rules. Same for the American Flag above it. They are the only ones allowed to have a flag with the stars displayed in the upper right. It should only be on the upper left whether it flies horizontally or vertically.

The military has this exception because it is used on the right shoulder. It is the mirror image of the left shoulder patch so that when the soldier charges into battle the staff holding the flag is at the front flag flying backwards.

Seriously thank you for your service. We also thank police and fire for theirs.
This is also a thing and I support it just as much as the blue and red stripe. (of course excluding the ATF)

What about a veteran who is now a cop or fire fighter?

MPs or military fire? Can they use a variation while at home?

    oh man…. The dilemma continues.

Clearly, something other than this 'flag issue' has your panties all bunched up...

How about you share what the real issue at hand is, and we talk about that??

The flag waving on the wrong side of the pole should be illegal.
    IMG_0475.jpg

Alas, yes the United States Flag Code is part of federal law. However, it primarily outlines guidelines and customs for displaying the American flag, rather than prescribing mandatory conduct with penalties for non-compliance. SO, let your freak flag fly however the hell you want.

Never have had a bad experience. I stopped typing firefighters because I have already typed cops, firefighters, government agencies above and I am really tired of retyping stuff when people aren't reading it. Like the first reply..... what about the Pride Flag. I don't like it, they are allowed to have it. Then someone else comes bouncing in with "Something else that is supposed be offended by... without reading anything. I bet he didn't even read the words "Post Reply". He just instinctively clicked.

How bout this, I have problems with government agencies and government officials/employees breaking the law. I have focused mainly on cops becausssssse.....they are aaaaaa....law enforcement agency.

10 seconds on Google answered your question. It’s a “law” but not one that has any enforcement or real teeth. And the 1st Amendment has a pretty strong case for keeping it that way indefinitely.

So, why don’t you cut to the chase and tell us where the bad flag touched you?

The government and its employees break tons of laws all the time at every level. Nobody likes the government or how it all works. The least concern for me at least is breaking the rules of intangible things like respect. Im more pissed about corruption, lying, wasting money, insider trading and the breakdown of its primary function of doing what's best for citizens and accountability in general.

It really pisses me off when I see some burn and stomp on our flag, it really does. Then I remember that my feelings don't really matter because our 1st Amendment rights weren't written to just protect things we liked, but those we hated as well.

A few... Definitely more than 2
I have done my obligatory 5 mins of research since I have not really heard of this before, but we seem to have skipped over Title 4 USC Chapter 1 section 1... "The flag of the United States shall be thirteen horizontal stripes, alternate red and white; and the union of the flag shall be forty-eight stars, white in a blue field." Setting aside the amendments that added the last two stars, DO NOT pass go, all of the thin line flags are not US flags as they are black, they are just heavily inspired, so no other sections need to be explored.

This flag got too many stars on it bruh, threw me off for a minute. I could not figure out what was wrong.
