I blew a back tire on the freeway and am trying to find the most affordable way to deal with it. I found a great price on the right tire size but its a Firestone and the rest of my tires are Michelin. Will this create any problems for me? Do I need all 4 to be Michelin?

How old and how many miles on the tires?

About 1.5 years old and 25k miles. I have a brand new spare Micheline full sized tire that I put on for now but wanted to even out the tread in the back so figured I should replace the other as well. So that would be 2 more worn tires in the front, 2 brand new ones on the back but 2 different brands on the back tires.

Assuming there is still good life left on the front - that’s what I’d do.

Okay, thank you. The tire shop was telling me the firestone had a different tread pattern so it wouldnt be recommended. That didnt make a lot of sense to me if the tread life is the same.

I’m shocked the tire shop wants to sell you more tires.
    :p

Tire shop guy is right. Mixing tread and rubber compounds can mess with the traction control system.

Just stick with same size and you’ll be ok. It might look a little ghetto but it shouldn’t hurt anything. I’d go get a used tire, same size, and start planning/saving for a new set of four that suit your needs.
You may even find a nice set of 4 takeoffs from dealership, tire/rim shop, or this site/ FB marketplace.

Thank you! I think that is what I am going to do. Things are a little too tight right now so trying to buy some time. Thank you!
