Great spot. A buddy of mine and myself rode it on Mountain Bikes back in 87. It was the first week of June and when we got close to the top we had to stop as there was a wall of snow about 12 feet high. It was a punishing ride, and I was scared to death of falling off the side on the way down. You are going in a Jeep or something else I take it? I think it would be almost impossible to go in your Tundra, but I could be wrong.

Taking the Tundra. Experienced and capable drivers only! It's tight in any vehicle but the Tundra can fit. I've seen plenty of full-sized rigs go down without any issues.

Due to the trail - probably looking to keep the group to 4-5 trucks max.

You should be fine. If you were able to go through Broken Arrow you should be good re clearance.

Trail seems more "high risk" than technical.

I've only been up on Black Bear once. Awesome. 78 FJ40 in 79. The FJ belonged to a fellow jarhead while going to calibration school at Lowry AFB in Aurora. Definitely a to do if you make it here!

I’ve needed to go since the first time I laid eyes on it doing Imogene several years ago. I kept bouncing back and forth between taking the LandCruiser or Tundra - Landed on the extra clearance and armor on the Tundra make up for being 2” wider and a little wider turn radius. My experience has also been the big footprint helps with stability in some of the ledges letting me take a harder but safer line… When I did Mineral Creek, there was a LandRover group behind me - I climbed up the rocky ledge away from the drop-off then watched these guys sling it right next to the cliff face.

I’d only be worried about the front and rear plastic. That’s one reason I’m not taking the 200. You can certainly do it but it might leave a mark or two.

LMAO - when we tried to run that loop north of the Gila you backed down an area far more difficult than anything we will encounter.

Are you thinking of Utah? Plenty of good beer available in CO.

Just need to be more selective about it IMO.

I’m in. I’ve wanted to do this for a long time.

My favorite video of black bear is the guy in the manual Ram 2500.

If he can do it, I can do it.

Just don’t flop on the steps at the top.

Another vid just got released of a tundra with a camper going down… With Imogene being shut down indefinitely i want to hit all these world class trails before they’re gone.
