So I recently purchased a Limited TRD off road with the factory 3 inch lift kit. I didn’t want the 3 inch lift personally and they offered to take it off, no charge for labor. Thing is they put stock black tokiko shocks on, not the red bilstein shocks that the trd off road is supposed to come with. When I mention this they say that they can’t put the bilsteins on, that they have to order too many different parts, like different control arms and things like that. Is this true, or is it just as simple as changing out the tokiko standard shocks for the bilsteins and they don’t want to do it?

Sounds like they trying to save money and gave you bullshit answer. If they can fit the Black shocks that came on base SR5. They can fit the TRD off-road bilstein shocks.

They can just swap the OR shocks and be done. That said, the Tokikos ride better :spy:

Exactly my thoughts. They said it they came off a platinum but those still have the same shocks correct?

Lol that is true. I actually do notice that. But it’s more the principle that I paid for OR I should get those. Also I’ve read the OR shocks give a slight one inch lift which I would like.

I don't believe they came with a 1" lift. IIRC, the TRD Pro's have a slight lift. But you didn't technically pay for the Bilsteins because you paid for a vehicle that had something else on it when purchased. You did not want that so you had the dealer swap out (which probably gave some tech with a personal tundra a big ole smile). You should have specified and tried to request the shocks that came with the OR package before any work was done.

Dealer definitely fed you some BS about the control arms. So you could always call them out on their lies and still try to get them to true up.
