I'm lost between these 2 great options guys.. help me decide. truck is currently a daily driver but i do spend time on shuttle and logging roads on the weekends. my setup is very minimal and more for purpose than looks.

6112/5100 - front and back combo or 5100 with stock springs/5100 front and back combo?
or is there any other options out there that i don't know about. I'm from canada so my buying options are limited..

    thanks in advance!

In my humble opinion, the 6112s and 5160s are a great deal. You get more than what you pay for. The 5100s are good and you get what you pay for.

They performed very well in a head to head with all other comers in the space. Were voted best overall option. That said, a 2.5 setup will outperform it.

I'm planning just to do 1.75" lift upfront to level the back and leave the back at stock height. going after some looks, more comfort for daily, and some capabilities on weekends... this is my end goal setup for reference. cheers

The 2.5 comment was about shock body size, not lift amount

It's been about a month since I switched to 6112/5160 from 5100s all around and the noticable difference is well worth the extra expenses (on road and off road). If you can comfortable afford the 6112/5160 combo it's not one you'll regret doing, instead of doing 5100s and having regrets.

If i can justify buying the 6112/5160. affordability is bottom of the worries. i just want to make sure i really need it for my intended application. thats a plus for that combo rather than 5100 all around

With the 6112/5160 combo would we need new UCA’s and would this setup work with the stock trd off-road 18in wheels?

If you keep the lift under 3", you shouldn't need new UCAs.
No reason it wouldn't work with your OEM wheels either.

I have 6112s on the second lowest setting (1.9") with a .5" lift shim (.25" shim) and ended up with 2.5" of lift.
    Fender well measures at 39".
    No alignment issues.
5160 rear with Toytec shackles set on the 1" setting.

IMHO, these shocks are a bit stiff, but I had the boatlike OEM black shocks before.

Yes. Ive had 6112/5160 for 7 years, stock UCA’s and 18” wheels. Stock tire size. No issues.

I just installed 6112 and 5100's. Ride is great and I would and did save the money and go 5100 in the rear.

I first had the 6112 front and 5100 rear because of a shortage of the 5160s.
I then bought a pair of 5160s and replaced the 5100 rear.

I found zero difference in the ride between the 2.
Probably should have kept the 5100...
    The 5160 is a 5100 with a reservoir..

I think I would just stay with 5100 in the rear after looking at them on bilstein website don’t see much of a difference unless I was off-roading more possibly.

6112s all the way. Comparing the 6112s to 5100s is not apples to apples what so ever. 5100s are nothing more than an oem replacement shock that provides lift. 6112s are a complete upgrade in every form.

Oh I agree 6112 in the front but I was saying for the rear instead of the 5160 I think I would keep the 5100 to save some money possibly.

I had 5100s in the rear initially. After swapping for the 5160s, I found the 5160s rode better. Less bounce in the back, but rear end felt more planted.

Hmm very interesting, on my Silverado I had before my tundra I had rancho 7000 in the front and 5100 in the rear and even though it gave me the lift I wanted it was rough riding from what I remember.

Same question here, and also Canada, so limited purchasing options. I've found 5100's at reasonable prices (like under $170 ea) but 6112's are like $1200 for the pair. That's a huge difference.

One article I read said the ride difference isn't noticeable on road, only when pushed off road. https://www.shocksurplus.com/blogs/news/5th-gen-4runner-shootout-bilstein-5100-vs-6112 Would you guys that have had both agree with the article?

Like I said above. 5100s are just a basic Oem upgrade shock. 6112s are a completely different assembly geared as an actual aftermarket upgrade. 5100s ride like a wooden wheel wagon, imo. 6112s are night and day difference.
