No modifications so far... that's why I'm here.

So I’m new here, but I’ve been perusing through the threads to try and get some insight on suspension upgrades. I have a TRD Sport suspension (which, correct me if I’m wrong, has the Bilstein 4600’s) but want to add a couple inches of lift. Admittedly, this is mainly for aesthetics.. but I still want performance so I don’t just want to add spacers and call it good. I also don’t want to break my bank so I’m not looking at any King, Icon, or similar setups like that.

With that being said, I’m pretty sure I’ll be going with Bilstein 6112’s on the front. I’m really only looking for around a 2”-3” lift while maintain some rake. On the back, however, I don’t know what my best option is. I‘ve seen a lot of people using Bilstein 5160’s, CB shackles, 5100’s, spacers, airbags and/or add a leafs. I was wondering if any of you had some suggestions based of what I’m trying to achieve with the truck.

I don’t do much hauling other than the occasional Home Depot run. Although, my family has a 32’ trailer that I’d like to tow once or twice a year without sagging too much (They have a ‘15 CM Off Road 2WD and that sags a little more than I like). I want to be able to load up the back for a weekend camping trip and, if I’m feeling adventurous, be able to explore a bit and not have any worries with the suspension. My brother-in-law has a Tacoma with a lift/suspension upgrade (unfortunately don’t know what method/brand) and my Tundra looks so under-qualified next to it.. haha.

I’m thinking of going with 5160’s in the rear, but I’m curious how those do with towing. Not super important but I’m trying to take everything into consideration. Do the CB shackles have any pros/cons? The concept seems just like adding a spacer in the back. Will adding a leaf give me some lift while retaining some rigidity for towing? Just my thoughts. This is all new to me so my understanding of truck lifts and suspension is minimal. Would love your input! If you could share pictures of your truck stance, and setups, I’d greatly appreciate it.

    Thanks in advance.

I run 1 inch coachbuilder shackles with 6112s. With the leer shell I should have done the +2s to remain level. The 5160s have done fine with towing.
