So im getting ready to install some 5100s on the front of my 15 dc , planning on going top clip and i believe bilstein includes a washer/spacer for the factory bump stops on the frame, my question is being from massachusettes theres a very good chance the factory bump stops will snap when i try to remove them to put the washer/spacer on , how necessary are they and can i just leave the factory bump stops the way they are and tun the 5100 on top clip without problems ?? Also to add truck is my daily driver never off road or anything like that strictly pavement

Yeah, you can leave the bump stops as is. No need for washer/spacer.

That extra washer is supposed to help
Limit up travel due to the extended length design. I ran my first set without it, blew the passenger side shaft seal out at 45k miles. On my second set now with the spacer adeed around 50k with no issues.

What did you do to blow the seals? I’ve ran mine for 40k now.

Ran it without the washer and likely exceeded the uptravel range of the shock. Or just got unlucky.

Certainly not a suspension guru, but when I was researching moderate lifts and bump stops, I found it's generally recommended to install larger bumpstops or in your case the spacer. I have a mild two-inch lift in front and run Superbumps. So, two votes for the washer!

They include the washer for a reason. Doesn't mean your truck will explode if you don't use it.
