Helping a friend out. He wants to add a 5 channel amp and new speakers. Components for the front, rear door and a sub.

Can someone tell me the best way to connect an amp to the factory head unit? I assume a LOC, if so where is the best place to tap into the wiring? Anyone know have a wiring chart?

I know I'll need a 4 gauge amp kit. Hopefully we can come up with something to mount the amp under the passenger seat.

And speakers adapters for the doors. I think crutchfiled carries those.

Any specific recommendations on brands/sizes, etc would be helpful. Just beginning to plan this out.

Probably just find a pre fab box for a single 10 or 12. It's so tight back there. Not sure I could get good measurements to build anything.

    Thanks for any info

Thanks for the reply. Is there an LOC that will do 5 channles? Well, I know there's an LC7i but is there one that is less $ and still does a good job?

ALso, do you think the stock wiring can handle ~75 watts or so per channel?

Not sure man. I have a different head unit so i don't know much about the LOCs. I'm running 75w through the stock wiring and I even tested by wiring up a door with OFC 14g wire and I couldn't tell a difference so i didn't bother re-wiring the truck.

Just wanted to update this for anyone that may search in the future.

I (well, my friend) went with a system from James @Tech12Volts. Price was great. Equipment was Hertz components for front and rear doors, Infinity 5 channel amp, and JBL 12" sub and box. Also came with a 4 gauge amp kit and numerous harnesses to integrate with his factory Non-JBL system.

We installed it today. Install did take a while but that's more on me than the equipment. My friend was very happy with the sound.

The only thing I can say that took a little more researching than I would have liked was the way the amp connects to the LOC. Basically the front L and R RCA input will be connected with the short rca cables he provides. Then you will use the RCA "Y" on each end of the RCA and then connect those to the amps front and Sub input. Kinda hard to describe but it's not difficult.
So, the way it's hooked up the front channel shares the fronts and the sub. Rear channel is hooked up with the other short RCAs.

James was great and he fielded several questions before I started the install and of course he explained the rca connections I mentioned above when I called him on a saturday. He always replied within minutes, typically less than 5 minutes.

I had never dealt with him before nor am I affiliated with him or his business. Just sharing a positive experience with a great retailer.
