Hey! I just purchased a ‘08 tundra X-SP. Tires have some tread left but will need to be replaced.

the X-SP package came with 305 50 R20 and they are hankook all terrain tires right now.

I’d like to switch over to a road tire. I only drive 2,000 miles a year. So weather checking will probably wear the tires down first before mileage ever will. South east region—no snow.

what’s the best bang for the buck given the above?

OEM take-offs should be the least expensive way to get into new rubber. You’ve already got the 20” wheels, and OEM size is 275/55-20.

They’ll be the same diameter as the 305/50-20 you have, but a little over an inch narrower.

    You’re currently a 32” x 12” tire. OEM is 32” x 10.8”.

The 305/50/20 is a 33.2" or so tire. The factory size 275/55/20 is more like 32.9". They are very close but the 305 one is a little taller and definitely a bit wider. 275/55/20's are some of the cheapest tires available even new as they are the most popular 20" tire size across all truck brands. Take-offs are a great way to score some cheap, but they will normally be the cheaper OEM version of whatever tire you get.

Sounds good. Thanks for the input. I’ve seen a few take offs come up on marketplace already this week.

The more I look at the 305s with AT tread the more I may want to keep that style though . I’ve seen a few people selling some used with a lot of tread left so that may be an option too.

It’s basically a truck for HD runs, and something to pull a double axle trailer and equipment around a handful of times in the summer. Was tired of having to borrow trucks or be limited to 3k # with a SUV. So the price of the new (and top) AT tire brands is probably more than I need.

    Appreciate it!
