Doing my research here...and it seems like opinions are all over the place on what shock/spring setups perform best in certain situations. So I figured, why not get more? :D

I do essentially zero off-roading in my truck (2011 RW DC). Currently there's a spacer on the front and the rears appear to be stock. Has ~104k on the truck total. I've got the stock 17" RW rims with LT Michelin Defenders, realizing that these are also impacting the ride a little. While the ride isn't bad, I'd like to remove that spacer and replace the shock while I'm in there.

From all the reason I can find, it sounds like the stock OEM non-TRD shocks (KYB or similar?) may be the way to go for me. I don't tow anything large (small trailers, potentially some kayaks, I'd say nothing over 1,500 lbs.) and use the truck as a daily driver back and forth to work. Little to no payload in the bed either. I'd just like it to be a little more plush on the highway (the highways around here are perfectly-spaced concrete slabs to provide a lot of bouncing...not sure if new, softer shocks would help or hurt that).

Has anyone "downgraded" their off-road/TRD suspension to the basic black OEM shocks? Price is right, and I have no desire for lift (I'm sort of the ant-truck owner here, mostly looking for a nice ride and better MPG!). What are your thoughts?

The basic standard shocks combined with street tires that are not light truck tires will give you the softest ride.

That's kind of the impression I'm getting. I'm not going to be changing out the tires as they're literally about a week old, and I'm wondering how much squish I'll gain back by simply removing the spacers...and while the ride isn't terrible by any means right now, I'd hate to replace the front shocks with something when I remove the spacer, only to discover I absolutely hate it and have to do it all over again!

I don't think spacers will make any noticeable difference. But I would take out spacers anyway. They are only for looks and it seems like they lead to shock breakage more frequently.
