How much plug and play are you wanting?
    What is your budget?

I am in the middle of a little overboard tundra build so I will answer what I can

Best upgrade I made for $500ish was a Dasaita headunit for genuine Android Auto experience (also CarPlay compatible). Also bypassed the "amp" under the passenger front seat with a plug and play harness from Amazon for $15.

The stock speakers are shockingly good once you do these two things, I might swap mine someday, but for now, I don't feel the need. Loudness, clarity, and bass resonance all went up dramatically, and then there's the world of improvement that is the interface of the headunit itself, allowing for multichannel equalizer setup exactly to your own preferences.

    option 1
I like what medcitymoto did , sometimes just replacing the head unit can make a big difference.
I like the Joying headunit if I was to go with an Android head unit. You can pick up one for $495

Option 2 if you want to stay with name brand equipment.
Crutchfield has the JVC-KW-m560bt on sale for $279.95 This is a great option at this price point.
add the Crux SWRTY-61N wiring interface to keep your backup camera , add the metra 99-8252 dash kit the total kit cost with discount $100.96
Replace the door speakers. If you buy the JVC they have a 50% discount on JVC speakers. Add a set of JVC CS-DR1721 for the front doors and a set for the rear doors. After the 50%discount $39.97 per pair
    so $460 before tax.

You will not have a better upgrade than option 2 without going over $500.

Option 3 if you want to go over $500.
    JVC 560bt $279
crux wiring kit and dash kit $100
replace amp under passenger seat with a 5 channel amp of your choice. CT sounds CT-800.5d $199
infinity reference REF-6530cx for door speakers I would cut the sail panel to fit the tweeter in and not put in the dash location, on sale at Crutchfield $164 per pair also use a pair in the rear door locations. You will not be using any of the speakers in the dash locations.
soundbox tundra crewmax for a single 10 inch sub can get on Walmart for $85
pioneer shallow mount 10 inch Pioneer TS-A2500LS4 $105 on Amazon
    rca cables $50
    amp wiring kit $30
    autoharnesshouse $18 on amazon
extra installation gear, zip ties, heat shrink tubing , Tesa tape, ect $100

so around $1400 or less with tax.

It sounds like a lot on the install, but it is not hard. Most of it will be plug and play. Only would have to run the 4-gauge wire kit through the firewall on the driver side. from the JVC head unit Run a remote amp turn on wire and RCA cables down the passenger side through the dash and down behind the kick panel. Do not even hook up the speaker wires, you will be using the wiring harness at the amp to tap into the door speaker wires, use the wiring harness off amazon if you do not want to cut the factory wires at the harness.

There are plenty of videos on you tube on tundra stereo upgrades.

For $500, I'd just do door speakers and install tweeters in the sail panels. I don't think any of the cheaper HUs are worth the money tbh. I've heard mixed reviews regarding the Dasaita so it's a crap shoot on that option.

Here is where a lot of cost can start to add up.

Nice breakdown. I had a shop do an install check and amp tune - $400. What a ripoff. I had to fix what they did afterwards.

I do not recommend replacing just the door speakers. The factory head unit is the start of the problem.
Then the crap head unit goes to the 2nd big problem, the factory non JBL amp is pure garbage.

The JVC Kw-m560bt has android auto and carplay
time alignment and other things for tuning.
2 volts is enough on the rca output to get a clean signal to the amplifiers if going aftermarket amps
If I wanted more voltage output on the RCA go with the JVC kw-m780bt for $399. It has 4 volts of rca output.

I have the JVC 750bt model in my sons Camaro and it has been a great unit. we are running the factory boston acoustics speakers in his Camaro from a ct sounds 80.4 and then a set of 10's from a ct sounds ct-1500.1. I feel factory speakers can play well off external amps , but I feel you get subpar sound trying to run aftermarket speakers from factory head unit power. His setup is basic and sounds great.

I have no experience with the JOYING head unit but there several on DIY mobile audio using Joying because of the optical output. They say it is a crazy good unit, better than anything big name brand. I am considering replacing the JVC 1000w because of the optical output as my DSP has optical input.
