I will be picking up my new truck tomorrow. I've seen various comments about what you should have the service department turn off and I'm thinking the best time to have that done is BEFORE I sign for it. I want the seatbelt ding turned off as that's annoying. I drive offroad under 20 mph and I have it turned off on my Dodge. I don't want to deal with that. Also, I don't want V8 tailpipe sound piped into the cab, I can do without that too.

What else should I consider having them "adjust" before I take it?

Also, with the new composite bed, is a spray-on liner that big of a deal? I think the $700 for that could go a long way to replacing my BakFlip MX4?

    TIA.

    Congratulations on the 1794!
I don't know for sure but I doubt the dealer will turn off the seat belt dinger. If I were you, I'd just buy a Carrista and do the tweaking yourself as you may change your mind on things you do or don't want enabled. I thought I was going to do a spray in or at least a bed mat and I'm not going to do either. The bed surface as is works great for what I'm doing. Maybe it's different if you haul gravel but it's pretty tough.

What I would do prior to pick up is to watch YouTube videos on how to use the infotainment. Then, watch them again. It's pretty tough for you to retain what a delivery rep will show you when you're excited to get the truck but some advance work is helpful.

Another quick question, does anyone know what "all-terrain tires" come with the TRD Off-Road package? I can't find that level of detail on anything here or on the Toyota website.

Lol, instead of focusing on these little things check these BEFORE you sign the contract.

    1. Drive on highway and listen for any whistling or excessive wind noise, see it any rattles or squeaks, creaks.
    2. Drive on highway 80mph, press on gas and see if you hear quiet whining noise from the rear differential when pressing gas. Although this may be harder to detect if the fake engine noise isn't turned off
    3. Yes, ask them to disable the fake engine noise before the test drive, they should do it for free, takes them about half hour

    4. Check all around the truck for any paint defects or chips or scratches

    5. See if your truck has the throttle delay issue, read through the extensive post about this issue here on the forum. Lots of truck have it.

Congrats on your new 1794!! You have good taste in trucks, my guy!

I also have the 1794 with TRD OR package, it came with Falken AT3 "variant" (not the same as the AT3W you can get at the store, these are OEM).

No complaints here with my March 1 build. No wind noises. No creaks or rattles. Mine is a hybrid so no throttle delays. The only thing that wasn't done for me was the seat was not calibrated, so when I tried to set the "memory 1" slot it just beeped. Dealer was supposed to do that in PDI and apparently didn't. No worries though, it was easy to do.

I have both the spray in liner and the Bakflip MX4. Love the tonneau cover, the spray in is good but for me it was take it or leave it. Since it came with the truck I had no choice, but I would not have bothered if it hadn't been there already. The composite bed worked well for me in both of my Tacomas and I have no doubt it would have been fine here. Just get a bed mat and you're good!

I have 2000 miles now and have towed my travel trailer from CA to UT with no issue whatsoever. I love this truck, and you will love yours!

2nd # 4. I know several folks buying various Toyos with delivery damage. Mine had scratch marks from strapping only visible at pickup after getting cleaned up. So look it over before and after the bath All came thru SET port for accessory installs so my hypothesis is at least that port is very rough with the merchandise.

Totally agree. I really liked the 1794 but wished you could get the Platinum grill and front bumper which is NOT chrome. :)

I asked and the sales guy said it would take about 30 minutes in the service department. They owe me one small item and I plan to get the door ding done at that time.

I have a nice ODBII scanner, however after looking at the Carista, it appears that you have to but their scanner, bundled with their software and pay a monthly service, is this correct?

Sign up in the app for 1 year and you get a free month. Then cancel it before the annual fee gets charged.
    I have 2 weeks left.
The dongle is $38 delivered in the US.
Some other devices will work, read through the Carista thread.

Posters have also used VeePeak and yes the Carista app requires a purchase ($9.99 a month is lowest i believe, but you can cancel anytime for no future charges).
Seems like your spending money for something you can do with your finger. All that does is increase fan speed and fool the temp setting - 70 becomes 66. So just push the temp down to 66 and increase fan speed yourself - save a few bucks.
