I got a surprise e-mail from my dealer today that the bed step I ordered Jan 31 was here. I really wasn't expecting it so soon. The parts guy told me it was a cluster-f what with orders being canceled, part number changing, orders being canceled again. He said they called Toyota and Toyota straightened it out and started shipping them. In any case that was all invisible to me.

Installation is a bit of a PITA. I am only bleeding a little bit from where I banged my forehead into the end of the tailpipe when my neck got tired. Unless you maybe have mini munchkin hands... unlike my bear paws... I recommend popping out the plastic rivet on the little metal bumper brace, then loosening the 10mm bolt on top to rotate that brace out of the way to get the top mount bolt installed. No way I could do that with the brace in the way. Otherwise pretty straightforward.

Step works great. It could be a little bit higher when it is extended, IMO, but still way better than trying to get up from the ground.

From my order and notification e-mails. I am not sure if this is the final part number or the original part number that I ordered. I just picked the part from the Toyota OEM parts listing at the time. Like at least one other poster showed in a photo, the underside of the step was embossed with the Amp logo.

    Description:
    Bed Step
    Part Number: PTS3034000
    Quantity:1

I used this part # PT392-34231 yesterday at the dealer. There inventory system listed 9 parts inbound.

My dealer just canceled my order I placed with them back in early December. I then saw these threads with the new part number and ordered it yesterday from Sparks Parts. Will be here Friday. (and $40 cheaper than the dealer).

OK folks, it's time now for me to get a bed step! I see other threads that show the eBay one to be crap. OEM is the ticket, yes?

PT392-34231 - Tun Bed Step - Sparks Parts

Sparks has it here for $270 + $31.10 shipping to me.

Is that a good price or have you fellas done better?

Is the step designed in such a way that it works with tailgate down? Edit: silly question, it looks like it does.

I have the Dngbymx bed step on Amazon and can’t complain. I’ve used it at least 2 times daily for a couple weeks with no problem. The bracket for the ebay step looks extremely thin and weak in the pictures compared to what my bracket looks like. $199

Watch you shin....I have bashed my shin on that thing so many times. You close the gate and head towards the drivers door and that step stays out just long enough for you to cream your leg into it

OK I pulled the trigger with Sparks Parts. I hope this part number and shipped price is good!

    Snap1.jpg

Was a bit weirded out by the other thread of the flexing, substandard ebay ones so I am hoping OEM from a dealer is worth the extra scratch. Bummer I can't get the power one but no way was I going to risk that sketchy eBay vendor/experience that I saw in THAT thread.

Now just waiting for AMP RESEARCH to get their act together and release their power running boards!

You’re referring to the Command series auto side steps correct? I don’t see a rear auto bed step listed, or maybe I missed them.

I don't know how you even GET that bracket on without taking the support brace out of the way.

    20230507_124011.jpg

It doesn't go in!! Fortunately a 10mm ratcheting combo wrench can loosen the brace enough to rotate it out of the way to get the bracket in. No big deal.

@raylo does your clearance look like this?

Seems a bit tight for clearance...

Do you need anything else or does this use the bolts already on the truck?

I've got a brand new OEM step for sale that was delivered with my truck in late-June of this year. It's never been used and has been sitting in a box since July. Has all the attachment bolts. I think $240 plus shipping is a fair deal, but I'll consider any offer.

PM with an offer. BTW...I'm the same shipping zip code as Sparks.

    Nothing yet, brand new.
Recently installed this one from Amazon and I’ve been satisfied with it. I’m 6’3” 230lbs and the top step does have a little more give in it compared to the OEM, but not enough give to return it. The bracket & swing bar are sturdy, good quality finish, and perfect fit. Priced at $120 and a 2 year warranty, I thought it was worth a try and a good Amazon find.
