For a minor upgrade, anyone against the Beatsonic for the 3rd Gen with the JBL system?

Awesome bang for the buck, if youre expectations are realistic. This will give you a nice, all around, bump in sound but it is not a replacement for a full audio upgrade. I've had mine since it came out and its awesome

Thank you! Have you added any other equipment to the system?

If you are not planning on upgrading the other speakers in the system, its a pretty nice upgrade. If you are planning on upgrading the rest of the speakers, it can be a bit frustrating to re-balance them. The beatsonic is setup to work with the sensitivity levels and frequency responses of the existing system, if you upgrade the stock speakers you may run into an issue where find some of the speakers (tweeters mostly) are over driven and have to find ways to attenuate their volume separately.

What about just replacing the stock sub that truly does nothing anyways? Or are you just referring to the highs and mids?

Highs and mids. The stock sub is more or less unaffected.
