    Battery died in parked tundra
Charged the battery and ultimately changed out the battery
Once changed out along with alarm going off during initial charge my truck starts but can it be put into gear
Towed to mechanic they can’t figure it out but insist I now need a steering sensor at $700 w labor
Keep reading about reset but haven’t read about not being able to put into gear along with my air Conditoner not turning on

Gotta be some blown fuses in there. There are some in the truck under the drivers side dash and of course under the hood.

Thanks this is frustrating especially when the auto shop I’m at doesn’t really know and insist I need a steering sensor replaced
I keep reading about fuses as well so will call them in the morning before they do work

On Gen3s, there is a manual over-ride procedure described in Section 4-2 Driving Procedures, "If the shift lever cannot be shifted from P" to unlock the shifter after problems. Basically, it involves removing a small cover and depressing a manual lock button. Drag out the owner manual and do thorough research to see if your model has a similar provision.

If you find it, I would disconnect the negative cable to your new (fully charged) battery for 30 minutes, reconnect the battery, and try the shifter again. If it is still locked, follow owner manual procedure to unlock the shifter and see what happens from there. You probably do have some fuses blown with all of that monkeying around with the battery. The first step is to get the truck driveable.

Yes we found the manual lock button to override the shift
But aside from that it won’t shift I will show the mechanics these notes before they install a sensor that I may not need
And also have them check the fuses

I had a similar problem with my 2010 crewmax. I thought that it was my aftermarket alarm/remote starter. Took it to Toyota dealership and they found out that it was the transmission park sensor module. It was only $200 plus tax.

I would get a second opinion.
