I'm shocked your truck turns on at all. What year is your truck?

Get a fuse tester and go through the fuse box I'm the engine bay and also the one under the dash on the driver's side.

There's a main fuse also, but if your truck turns on, its probably still good

Check ALL the fuses. Normally this blows the main fuse... I’m surprised that it didn’t.

Me too, plus there is no question in the opening thread. :notsure:

The battery is clearly labeled with symbols and colors. The cables are clearly marked with symbols and colors.

I'm also in the CONFUSED camp. OP didn't say what year Tundra he has. I have a 2017 but haven't changed the factory battery yet. But if my '17 is like my other Tundra trucks I've had over the years the negative lead is only just long enough to reach the battery post in its proper location. No a bunch of slack from the factory. So how it would "stretch" another 8"+ to get to the negative terminal on "the other side" of the battery.........I don't know.

Count me in for main-fuse-blown. OP do you know how to check the main fuse and determine its condition???

The 2nd and 3rd Gen Tundras use a 27F battery. The terminals are inverted on a 27 battery. An inexperienced or unknowledgeable parts person could easily pull the wrong battery off the shelf thusly making it super easy to hook up the new battery and short everything out. The parts store is responsible for the repairs if the invoice shows a 27F battery was billed and a 27 battery is what the customer received. I know this 1st hand from being on the other side of the counter.
OP - check your receipt and new battery. If they gave you the wrong battery then go back to the store and talk with the manager.

Thanks for that! I had no idea I would learn something like this today! I blame the engineers who can't figure out how to STANDARDIZE! I have the same complaint for the many flavors of USB and Apple for their proprietary connector. And this comes from an engineer!

I read it as he put the cables on backwards and it still started. I don't need to try that, I know its not possible.

No way in hell that Tunny would start with the cables switched.

    Working on it
Not engineers fault, clamps would not fit properly at all . That is why they engineered the 2- different size clamps. And red and black cables , and + and - on battery tops. And starters are negative ground so shouldn't have started either.
