When I picked up my 3 year old '19 SR DC earlier this year, the deal with myself was to keep things simple. (Upgrades and tireless hours of mods planning, $$, and over creative fixes = been there, done that. (But greatly enjoyed!))

The used dealer threw on a coat of wax with a hand buffer just before picking ut up and it was...far from any pro job.
Lots of swirls later in the wax job, I gotta at least clean the finish up better. The truck has a fair amount of chips and dings (former owner apparently threw gravel at the poor truck as a hobby) and I'm not looking to put a top tier finish on it. I need to put a solid basic level of protection that will provide decent shine and protection from fade.
So the priority question: Will a clay bar pull off all the wax sufficiently so I can re-apply a better coat and drop those lovely swirls? Yes, the swirls seem to be in the wax vs the actual clear coat or similar.

    TIA

You can try the clay bar. If it’s in the wax you should be able to remove by hand by buffing paint. What you are describing sounds like trails left from the buffer…which in this case sounds like a rotary. Pictures would help.

Thanks for the input. I'll try to catch a couple of pics. They did use a rotary buffer which I didn't describe well. Just a kid in back trying to shine it up some, appreciated but gotta get it a bit more right.
I don't have a rotary myself these days. Part of trying to find some simpler fixes if I can.
    Thanks again.

if those are rotary trails the only way to fix is machine polish.
