Did some runs this morning playing around with drive modes and traction control, boost braking vs just punch it, TRD filters vs stock. Best 0-60 TRD Tow Haul brake boost traction off 6.63 sec. 1/8 mi. 9.59 @ 75.97...stockers same launch 0-60 6.74 and 1/8 9.61 @ 75.50 so maybe a tenth 0-60 or half a tenth 1/8 difference. Looks like the filters alone are statistically zero gain. Tomorrow the plan is Stillen in stages combined with filter swaps! (I did see a best 0-30 of 2.49 with stock filters go figure...near perfect launch)

Lids are still stock ha ha...tow haul+ didn't make a difference in times...but it did hold back more once I let off

I remember when the 3.4 first came out in the t100, they had commercials saying it was faster 0-60 with 500 lbs in the bed than the others v8 1/2 tons

    we had a t100

Thanks for posting this. Hell I don’t think cold air intakes would make a difference.

4Runner does have 236k carefully driven miles...believed to be only on 2nd clutch, cat, timing belt and water pump...might have lost a horse or 2 but no check engine light and scans all sensors ready and green

    Tru-Control update...installed this morning:

    Map 0=stock no tune
    Map 1=6.88 0-60
    Map 2=6.51 0-60
    Map 3=6.37 0-60
    Map 4=6.31 0-60
Map 5=6.22 0-60 best so far starting to lose time due to excessive wheel-spin with traction off and traction on holds you back
    Map 6= wheel spin
    Map 7= wheel spin

Best 1/8 mile virtual tie between Map 6 and 7 launch limited 9.38@78.71 on Map 6
Best 1/4 mile let off early 14.93@76.84 managed a 15.16@93 yesterday stock in tow haul...with some stickier tires or prepped surface this is now an easy mid-high 14 second truck

So...picked up almost a half second 0-60 and 4 tenths in 1/8 mile...now severely traction limited

I'll update after some more normal real world driving with further impressions

I'm curious why this matters to you? It's still a slow-ass truck.

Pure unadulterated curiosity...born with it...now to put on the Stillen Exhaust and see if it adds anything besides noise...

I had a T100 with the 3.0 V6. That was objectively not fast.

ya the 3.0 was gutless, the 3.4 was much better

3.0 was also the head gasket disaster

Just to be clear the 4Runner was burning Shell 87 Tundra Shell VPower 93...hard to believe but the 3.4 was a big step up from the head gasket blowing 3 slow in durability like best ever...and power...you could accelerate with the A/C on ha

Slow ass is a stretch. I think we are fairly fortunate to live in an era where big trucks are as quick as they are.

I'm coming from a 3rd gen Tacoma. The Tundra is by no means slow lol

So the correct answer is: Slow? Fast? It's all subjective and relative folks. What are you comparing it to?
You just step out of a C8? Yeah, the Tundra is going to feel dog-slow.
    You've been driving a '87 Yugo? Now, it's a 6000 pound rocketship.

Is a 15 second 1/4 mile "fast" by most definitions? Nope.
I'll call it quick enough to be fun. Daily driving out of boost does not feel doggy or slow to me. Get it into boost and it pulls surprisingly hard for something as big and heavy as it is.

A bone stock truck that can run mid 6 second 0-60 times is not that slow...not a Raptor or TRX but sneaking up on a 14 second 1/4 mile at nearly 94 mph real world is faster than any other new Toyota that doesn't say GR on the back. After doing more normal driving everything is normal...until you step into it and now it really comes on strong. I am also sure there is some heat soak from repeated runs...overall I'm impressed with the ease of installation, seamless integration, and performance for the $. I'm going to install the Stillen exhaust next and although I'm hopeful it will provide an additional gain, I know it will be minimal in comparison to the Tru-Control.
We all mod our vehicles for different reasons mostly cosmetic...I've been a hot rodder since I could hold a steering wheel...Stillen makes toys that help us scratch the itch!
