I went to change the oil on my Tundra and noticed the frame is getting pretty bad. It was inspected and sprayed about 7 years ago, right before I bought it. I called the dealer and was told that Toyota basically closed the book on this particular truck because it was inspected and deemed good to go.

So, what are my options? With 197k miles, a frame doesn't seem cost effective. Try and cut out the bad parts and weld in new pieces? Does anyone buy these to part them out?

Hope you don't mind....I have resized and uploaded for those not wanting to download an unknown zip.

In any case, I cringe every time someone posts a Tundra frame in that bad a shape and possibly nothing Toyota will do for that individual. Also the dealer is correct, Toyota would tell you to take a hike, 04-06 were only offered an LSC and not frame recall. There are frame folks here that may have suggestions but my input would be to cut your losses and move on :(

Thank you, I was trying to figure out how to get the pictures on there like you did.

Sorry this is happening. I'd contact Toyota corporate, it has been my experience they take the long view of doing the right thing.

IDK man, it looks like you're done. I wouldn't run that at all.

unless you have a lift, a lot of room and, an urge to take on a long project, I'd just sell it.

I have thought about trying that route, what do I have to lose? I have a 2019 Limited, and have several newer Toyotas in the immediate family. Maybe it will help, maybe not.

What's it even worth at this point? I can't imagine much at all.

A salvager or pick-a-part might give you a couple g. I'm not sure honestly.

Is it just in those two areas? Where else in the frame is it bad? It does appear to be toast but that area up front can be repaired if it’s just the bottom of the rail.

Always gets me the way Toyota handles the frame recall. My 01 was nowhere near this bad but got a frame last year. Hate to see otherwise good trucks with many miles left on them get plagued by this.

I believe you can buy frame repair kits but if you don't have any good solid metal to weld to then you may be out of luck.

The rusty tow hitch/bumper mount assy can be unbolted and tossed in the trash. An aftermarket bumper mount and tow hitch can be bolted back on easily. I did this and am very happy :)

The rust on the front section can also be repaired using parts from autorust.com. I did this and am very happy :)

That said, I can't comment on whether it makes sense in your case until you post more pictures
