Owned a 1998 Tacoma, 2001 Tundra, 2011 4runner, and am back to a 2021 Tundra. Never thought of myself as brand-loyal but I’m finally waking up to it. I use my rig mostly for fishing/camping/towing, driving winding backroads and rocked logging roads in western Oregon (versus 4 flat miles to work). I’ve learned much in the past week by reading and promise to search old posts before asking questions!

Since noone has asked yet, what color did you get? These guys like to say the MGM is the best and Super white is the fastest lol. We have alot of fun in here, but they will give you crap if you start a new MPG thread or ask what is the largest tire that will fit on stock suspension lol.

Haha. I got the grey. Took a drive today to see 2020 wildfire aftermath in the Santiam basin in Oregon, paved roads into the mountains and back 200 miles, 17 mpg still in the break-in stage. Keeping the lead foot under control for now.

About wheels and tires ... I got the base SR5 4WD with steel wheels and P tires, and will be getting new AT tires ASAP. Cosmetics are cool but I’m a practical sort. I know I’ll get 4-5 years on the steel wheels before the finish starts to fail, so could just replace the wheels later. Tires are a focus right now.

I have always run load range C-D-E tires for towing and especially due to sharp rock logging roads here. Been really happy with Revo2 and Revo3 in prior rigs. Comfy and great grip in wet Oregon winters, not very long lasting, but I’ll take that trade.

My question isn’t the biggest tires! Instead, my question is: which size wheel (to fit stock SR5 suspension) gives the most AT tire choice options in Load Range C-D-E tires? As it stands, from prior experience, I’m heading to 275/65/18 with Load Range E Revo3, but could get by with Load Range C for most of what I do ...

Welcome! Funny how you can quietly become loyal after you notice few to no issues with your Toyota’s over a several year span. No news is good news, right??

Correct! Over 20 yrs on Toyota truck platforms with literally zero significant problems. Each was purchased with intent to run 200K but life intervened to necessitate switching. I have yet to get over 135K. This Tundra is (again) intended as a long-term rig.

We had our 2001 4runner for 15 years. We put 200K on it, it was just under 300K when we got rid of it. My father-in-law drives it now so at least we'll see it get over 300K. That experience combined with the indy shop we have made the choice of truck super easy for us.
