It has been a long day, while they were telling my daughter-in-law that he was going to be just fine the crew was removing his tube that was down his throat. During that time they described it as he had an episode and he has sleep apnea and while removing the tube his lung collapsed and filled with blood and fluid. They worked hard and long and pulled him through!! He also has a blockage they were watching and all went well so far. Last I heard he was eating his first meal.

Longest day I have had in a long time. I just had surgery on Wednesday and had to go in for the follow up which kept me out of touch. He and most of my family are in Missouri where I was born and raised. Long distance communication is so much better now days than it used to be.

Thanks to everyone and all of you for the good wishes and prayers. Besides, who gets into Valhalla because of a knee surgery (that is another story)?

We found out late yesterday that they found he had a heart attack after his lung filled up with blood due to the stress the heart went through. I mentioned that to my wife earlier when we heard about the lung incident that he was lucky then this news came hours later. His oxygen is low so he is on and off the mask and blood pressure also low.

He is sitting up this morning alert and seems fine. Still in ICU and they had to turn his blood thinner IV off because he is bleeding pretty good at the surgery incision on his knee. They are waiting for two doctors, the cardiologist and the knee surgeon to come and give them updates. More than likely he is not going home today, they want the Troponin in his blood to continue to go down. Thank you lord for saving my Son

    Thanks for the updates...

I'm glad you're getting more information and details about what happened; it's always better to know and have more information

Probably better for him to have 24/7 care for a couple of days until he is completely stabilized and they've got his system back in balance; right now too many variables at play... and time is everything when it comes to making adjustments or responding to the ups and downs that he's dealing with in terms of BP, Oxygens levels, etc... Sounds like you've got a great team involved in his care.

Are you still having to navigate this from out of state? I can't imagine how much more difficult that would make things...

Freaking Marines, man. He just had to make sure he had a better surgery story than you.

I'm glad he's okay Tony. Speedy recoveries to both of you.

He is in Farmington, Missouri and I am out here in Arizona. He is out of bed and in a chair now but they want to make sure everything is ok before they release him. I would rather stay there until they are sure I was out of the woods for sure and he is the same mindset.

Sorry, I got hit with this yesterday and needed to vent (I have zero family in Arizona) so I typed in here. Thanks to everyone and I believe he is going to be much better than he was yesterday

I couldn't afford to live there, however, I wouldn't want to anyway. That must be some he'll of an HOA to demand that much each month. BTW, I hate HOAs!
