Couple of things I noticed in the brochure literature.
I-Force V8 admits more FUEL and air. Yeah, thanks. We can see the 15mpg’s.
Stopped faster with a 1200# payload then the domestics. Yeah, like twice! Then the steering wheel wobbles when you brake after that from warped rotors.
But damn she was fast when new. You could smoke the other trucks with a stock Tundy back then.

Believe it or not the biggest selling point to me on the Tundra was that everything was ACCESSIBLE for servicing and repair.

Can't say that of the new Octopus 2022 3.5 TT Tundra where lifting the cab is now a common event.

God only knows how much crap I need to pull off to find the spark plugs.

I had a 2000 Tundra for a little over 10 years. It was a great truck and served me well. My dad now owns it and he's very happy with it. Today it has roughly 180k miles on it.

    Great find!

Our 2018 Sienna is like that, you have to pull the intake manifold and all associated components to reach the back 3 plugs.

I actually think the Tundra was amoug the more fuel efficient trucks of the day. Buddies of mine use to report 9-10 mpg out of some of their trucks.

I love the "naked" engine and frame shots. There's the LSPV that you need to bleed ;). Still one of the best trucks on the road from then until now. Thanks for sharing that.

the first gen tundras and first gen tacomas are the peak of true trucks. we will never see new vehicles produced like them again.
