We’ve only had our Limited for a week, but I’ve noticed an oddity with the automatic folding mirrors. Normally I would expect the mirrors to automatically fold in when the truck is locked, which they do when I lock it with the key fob or by pressing the handle button. But I’ve found that they do not fold in when I click the lock button with the door open and then close the door. Anyone else have the same behavior?

I have never tried that. Perhaps they will fold in this case once you exit and shut the door?

That’s what I thought, but when I press the door lock button and then shut the door, the truck is indeed locked, but the mirrors don’t fold in as expected.

Do you have the mirrors set to stay open on the door controls? They have three settings: folded, auto, open. You need them on auto.

Did you check the settings screen? I believe you can change the behavior in one of the menus. I may have this confused with my other car, but I think there is a setting that determines the behavior on lock.

Might be your other vehicle. Just went through the settings again. Appears the only place is the door handle switch. Anyone else’s truck have the same behavior?

I had to go check my truck out of curiosity. Mine functions as yours does. If I use the lock button they stay out, but if I touch the handle in the lock area, they then fold. Looks like your truck is functioning normal....weird, but normal.

Thanks, Donas. I noticed the oddity the first day, and have wondered since then if mine had an issue. Glad it's "normal".

the problem is the bcm has no idea that the lock was perform, if you lock prior to closing the door, the mirror rules to fold are over-ruled since the truck door is open (that takes precedent over the lock function) so it ignores that the doors are locked.

the mirrors fold normally if the door is closed and you send a lock command and then the mirror knows to fold since the door open rule is not over ridding the fold when door closed and locked.

thats how i am seeing the mirror programming rules are prioritized

But it could have if they thought about it and designed it so that the lock pulse from the lock motor circuit fed back to the BCM. But they didn't. Not that this is a big deal. Just another thing we have to adapt to as owners.
