Automatic bright headlights question

This is really a confirmation of operation question as the auto headlight operation on my Tundra is different than every other Toyota I own, and I want to confirm it is operating correctly.

On my 16 Land Cruiser and 20 4Runner, when the auto bright button is pressed, the auto function only activates when I also have the stalk pushed forward to bright (and the lights will auto dim when detecting oncoming traffic.

On my Tundra, when the button is pressed, the brights go on no matter the position the stalk is in, making it harder to manually switch to low beam if necessary. TIA

 

Yep, just need to press the button to activate. My old Tacoma was how your 4Runner was.

 

Agreed,one push and that easy.I have noticed that when approaching large (over sized) traffic signs on secondary roads it detects it and turns highs off,so pretty sensitive eye.

 

2024 tundra sr5 offroad. Same,operation,as,yours. Wife’s rav is the opposite (like your 4Runner)
