Bought a “brand used” 2023 Tundra SR5 with 5,000 miles on it last week. Traded a 2017 Limited for it. I was dreading the auto start/stop feature but was surprised that the former owner somehow bypassed it already. The engine will not shut off at stoplights, ever. I’m wondering if he did anything else. ‍♂️
    Thanks former owner!

Auto Stop / Start feature here is designed the way that the driver has full control over it. I am not saying nothing was done to your specific truck to bypass that but you can easily operate your Tundra and never engage this at any red light or other stop.

Interesting. I’ll have to keep messing with it to try to get it to engage.

Try putting full pressure on the brake pedal when you come to a stop, if that doesn't shut it down then maybe there is an override of some sort installed.

Just look for a message on your dash "Push the brake to engage"

I mean you have the ability to turn it off completely in the settings or just by not mashing the brake pedal down hard at a complete stop.

There is an auto start/stop disable kit that several people on here have installed. It is wired from the back of the on/off switch to a spare fuse in the passenger side footwell. it would be easy to check if you're curious, just look at the fuse box inside on the passenger side or pop the trim piece out by your left knee.
    Here is a link.

the issue is that most people who complain about this feature also don't want to have to turn the feature off every time they start the truck up.

I didn’t know it had to be turned off every single time on startup. On the Highlander once it’s turned off that’s it. Guess I’m one of the ones that it doesn’t bother me. I don’t press the brake pedal hard enough to enable it.

My F150 work truck had this(not as intuitive as the Tundra with the brake pedal) we simply removed the switch and jump the 2 contacts together so its like the button is always pushed. But that was a work truck. Im not so sure I want to send constant voltage to an input on MY new truck.

Press the brake pedal fully and turn off powered accessories helps so it's not charging the battery.

Why does anyone need an over ride kit? Just do not press the brake when stopped dues not work why?

Because it also shuts off when you go to park then immediately restarts. For me this was the most annoying part.
