Or just don’t press the brake pedal too hard. Or have the HVAC cranked it will barely ever kill the engine

I can easily avoid activating it with the brake pedal. What drives me nuts is it shutting off when I shift to Park and then immediately auto starting right back up. I’ve been shutting off in Drive just to avoid it. Maybe this dongle would stop that.

I'm too broke after buying this rig to afford mods.

If you wait a a second or two longer after it shuts off to shift to park, it will stay off.

It doesn’t shut off until I shift to Park. Even if I sit there in Drive for a few secs. But you gave me an idea. Pull up to the house, stomp on the brake so it shuts down, then push the Ignition button to shut down while it’s Off. Gonna have to try that out to eliminate the extra restart.

If you stomp the brake, let it shutdown, wait 2 seconds, then shift to park and it stays off. If you shift immediately after it’s shut off, it’ll restart. I always shift to park then shut the ignition off.

Keep your seatbelt on and the truck won't start back up after you put it in park. Now that your truck is off in park and your seat belt is still buckled hit the push button start and the the truck shuts down and doesn't start back up again. It was driving me nuts and I figured out I was unclicking my seatbelt right after putting it in park and the truck kept starting back up. I made an effort or mental note to not unbuckle my seatbelt until I am able to push the start button to shut it down. Only time it starts back up is when I forget again. Keep your seatbelt buckled... put it in park wait a second....if the truck engine shuts down....push the start button to shut off the non running truck....then unclick your seatbelt and no more annoying restarts

What's their reasoning behind the auto shutdown?

You get zero miles to the gallon sitting there idling and not moving. Simply fuel economy targets.

Back to the OP- I saw this in a different thread yesterday and ordered it from Amazon. This seems perfect for me and only 20ish dollars is a decent deal. I always forget to press the button until it shuts off and reminds me.

I will be installing tomorrow. Do you pull out the panel and add the cable or just reach from underneath?

You can just pop the panel off and install.

Installed this today.. took about 5 minutes and it works.. I was kind of surprised at how tight the wiring harness is behind there. I could barely pull out the cluster 2 inches.

lol yea I was thinking the same. I found 1 downside to it though. In the morning I remote start my truck then I go open the door and it shuts off then when I start the truck again the auto start it back on. Apparently the module needs the truck to be off for a minute or so before it works again. I generally don’t remote start, just when it’s cold outside, so I’ll just have to remember to turn it off manually on those days.

Just curious, why does it do this where it shuts off when switching to park?

I never have the truck turn off when in drive (as I don't typically mash on the brake at a red light). But man it happens like 1/10 times when shifting to park.

Thanks for the post. Are there any downsides to this that you have noticed? Any dash light, warning light, etc?

no error lights, just the orange light that shows the auto start is turned off. also, In the morning I remote start my truck then I go open the door and it shuts off then when I start the truck again the auto start it back on. You can also pull the side dash panel off pretty easy and reach in and unclip the wiring harness from back of the dash. Then push in the back of the switch cluster and it will pop out and be able to pull it out 6 inches or so to access the switches.

Thanks for the pics! I kind of saw that clip holding the wiring harness when I installed wire. I want to add some lights in the future and wire the buttons in that cluster so this will come in handy!

This model does not change. Remote start or not it stays either active or not active according to your last setting. I have it on my 2024 Crew Max Plat Non-Hybird for 4 months steady and no faiure.

Looks like the other model that was posted above post does not have a constant power to keep the unit in set position. Note no power wire to attach to fuse box for steady on power of 12V

I have this same model and auto start / stop is always disabled at startup and doesn’t remember last setting. eBay listing description is somewhat helpful and may say the same thing.

I installed the new one that is being sold on Amazon in a buddy’s truck.

Pros - No power wire like other one.

Cons - Starts “off” automatically and doesn’t remember previous setting as the other one that needs power.

Did I miss-understand your statement above quoted?

If installed with the power wire to constant 12V fuse the unit will REMEMBER last setting.

I was wondering what the heck this thread was about since start/stop never happened to me when parking. Just control it with the brake when idling which I like as opposed to the automatic ones. I guess my default park method sequence (park, push button, belt removed) does not trigger it. Seems easier just to alter your shutdown sequence than alter the truck but that's just me

Mine still randomly shuts down shifting to Park only to immediately restart no matter the sequence. Belt on/off, pausing in Neutral, etc. Must use the button Or plant the Brake pedal to just kill it, shift to Park, then tap Shutdown.

The new version with no power wire is by default, off at startup.

The older version with the power wire is defaulted to off at power. Mine is connected like the instructions to the power outlet fuse.

Ideally I would like it to remember my last setting since the starting stopping annoyance when coming to a stop seems to happen seasonally when the temps aren’t excessively hot or cold.

I did try to run constant power to it and test it again but couldn’t get it to remember the last setting as you had stated.
