Just wondering what everyone is using to protect their trucks from being stolen. I recently installed the Ghose immobilizer and thankfully I didn’t. Thieves tried to steal my truck over the weekend. Broke the back window and tried to install a module of their own to get the truck running. Thankfully they were not successful in getting it started, all caught on camera. Is there any alarm that you can recommend that would set off a siren if the vehicles windows are broken?

Just looking to make sure that my 2024 tundra stays safe in the driveway. And no it wont fit in the garage.

    Cheers,

Yep - Toyota has a factory glass break sensor that comes with certain models.
I installed that unit on my old 2011 CM

2 pieces - the micro phone that installs in the accessory panel next to the USB/Aux plug
and the module that mounts behind the panel below the steering wheel.
It takes maybe an hour to install.

Attached is the install doc for a 2018 - may or may not be same for yours.

Did a quick search and found - 08586-3D891 may be the part number for your Tundra. Some Toyota sites show discontinue other show avail.

Do you know if they make one for the 2024 Tundra Limited TRD? I couldn’t find anything online.

I did see they noted as discontinued for the 2024 but, I did find same part listed as avail for the older 4 runners.

Maybe someone else with the 2024 Limited can chime in.

    Might be easy to check.
The panel where you Aux plug is, i assume it pops off.

Pull that panel away gently and see if there is a lone small white plug hiding back there
not plugged into anything. Thats the plug for the microphone.

On another note - do you know if you have the factory alarm?

Update - while reading stuff, i saw someone else posted the same question
but for a 2023. Check your manual, maybe around page 74 or so
or look for "Theft Deterrent" or "Anti Theft".

I recently had my 2014 Toyota Tundra vandalized in the parking lot of a local Super Walmart store. Thieves attempted to steal the Upper chrome grille mount scoop but was unsuccessful. They also dented the upper right side of the hood body-line. I have good insurance so I replaced the chrome grille scoop and installed a DASH CAM to add more security to my truck. I also purchased a universal car alarm system and plan on installing it after I have the hood damage repaired. I realize that life happens, and you better prepare for it.

I can't even lock my truck while it's in the driveway warming up, thanks Toyota.

I need to get an electrical wiring diagram of a 2014 Toyota Tundra. The vehicle owner's manual was not included when I purchased it used in 2020. If someone know where it can be purchased or even downloaded online I would greatly appreciate it.

Consider setting up additional actions from your surveillance camera: send motion alerts to your phone, playback prerecorded messages on trigger, many offer 2-way comms, use MQTT/Z-wave to turn on additional lights when triggered, etc etc.

My goal is to nail down the camera's embedded AI human detection algorithm and send Z-wave commands to turn my home's interior lights on if there's activity in the driveway after a set time. That'll trigger my best home defense (two dogs) followed up with waking me up + 9mm.

These times call for more security around our homes and our vehicles. I should have installed better security in my Truck before the unfortunate incident occurred but now I realize just how urgent this matter really is. Let's stay safe and secure our property.

I was able to download the user manual for my Tundra from the Toyota website after registering it/adding it to my vehicles. Hope you can do the same.

I didn’t spend the money to just swap out stuff.
But you can. Pull your physical key out of the fob and lock your doors with it, truck stays on.

Good question. I've been having issues with my drivers side power door lock failing and tried use the key this morning to get into the truck. Unless something came disconnected inside, turning the key did not feel like it was mechanically doing anything inside the door handle. Drivers side door still would not unlock with the key, so either something is disconnected mechanically or the manual key still actuates the power door locks only, would be curious if it would allow that with the fob still in the vehicle.

If someone wants something bad enough, they’ll always find a way. The fact these guys are smashing windows and using some kind of module to start the trucks is wild to me. I even saw on Facebook the other day someone stole a guys truck with a tow truck. Just like a coworker I have who spent thousands reinforcing the doors on his house, yet someone can just throw a rock through his window just as easily and climb right in.

I found documentation that unit does not work on a Gen3 Tundra. ( I had that one in my Gen3 Tacoma ) Im currently researching a Glass Break Sensor from Viper that is said to work on the Gen3 with professional installation. Trying to get more details on the installation procedure and wiring diagram.

Was only a matter of time before we started to see this.

Get yourself an IGLA & a compustar alarm with the T12 or T13 remote kit, DASII sensors and Drone. The IGLA joins the CAN Bus and becomes part of the cars network. Prevents any activity, including attempting to program. a key, unless you Pin unlock it. Has a service mode for service that restricts speed to 35mph and mileage, no one knows its there. The compustar system gives you a remote gps, telematics control of the alarm, including window break and shock sensors and an additional immobilizer.

In the mopar world ive had/currently have this combo on a few cars and its the best solution. I plan on doing the same combo on my tundra shortly. Most of the IGLA dealers are doing the compustar combo also so you generally have to only take it one place. https://www.iglausa.com/dealer-locator

My 2022 Platinum Tundra was stolen off my driveway 3 weeks ago. Mine including my neighbours cameras could not catch anything most likely from the thieves jamming our wifi ring cameras per police.

Sorry so hear that. I’m not sure if it’s as easy as the Dodge/Ram vehicles. The Toyota requires a code to program, I’m not sure if the devices are the same. On the CDJR vehicles they just bash the back window that is not laminated, hook up to the CAN Bus and program a key and off they go. Takes less than 2 minutes.

it would appear most of the Toyota theft is relay theft. Get a faraday box for your key fob, do not hang it by the door. Also wired cameras if you expect them to function. The WiFi jamming is becoming very common.

Anyone reading this, don't install wireless cams which record to the cloud. Wire your hardware and record locally. Place that network on its own VLAN and at a minimum block WAN access. For remote viewing, VPN back home. The amount of various, shitty Chinese camera systems people are installing to feel safe is alarming.
