i was in for 10,000 service last Friday. They didn’t do the software recall for the airbag that was released oct 4th. They just took it back this morning but said it would take a while. I was told they hook it to a computer, it talks to Toyota and verifies the update. Sounds right so far. Then it downloads a whole software package at modem speed, then updates. Totally retarded.
I guess for good reason they don’t trust techs to have a copy of the software and apply it to the right vehicle. And the modem speed, WTF?
Maybe it’s the whole heroshima Pearl Harbor thing rearing it’s ugly head.

I just picked my truck up from its 10k service, they did the recall for me. Maybe you were at a horrible dealer?

I had my 10,000 mile service today and had them perform the recall. When I called to make the appointment, I already knew the recall existed. The girl in the scheduling department claimed there were no recalls listed on my truck, so I brought up this particular recall. She "looked somewhere else" and discovered it. It was very odd. Not sure if I'm all that happy with my dealer's service department anymore.

I do live close to a horrible dealer. Anyone know of good dealers in Virginia?

Bought mine from ourisman in fairfax. Never had service there but I would recommend them based on experience when buying.

Had mine done along with my 6 month service. Fast and easy. The bigger problem is that while waiting, I strolled in the dealership's audio section. They showcased a special on a pair of 10" subs, a custom carpeted box, a 2000w amp, a LC2i and a UR1 controller. Now I'm heading back again on Monday for the install. LOL
