Looking for my future 1st Gen Tundra
Well hello to my new Tundra fam! Looking to acquire a 1st Gen Tundra - '05-'06 - found an '05 here in the link below.

I've already read a ton of threads on here so I figured it was time to make a profile and throw some waves and hand gestures (positive ones) out the window.

Saw this Tundra - looks sharp / kind of pricey - am I nuts or is this a super shiny rust cover up ? https://www.midwest4x4s.com/details/used-2005-toyota-tundra/112335660

    Cheers,
    E

It looks like someone POR-15'd the frame at best, or hit it with gloss black rattle can at worst.

There's only one reason to do that, as I'm sure you're aware. And the chunkiness sitting under the paint tells you exactly why they did it.

Run away; delaminating or that scaling type rust is cancerous. They’re definitely trying to hide something.

I have brand new frame on my truck with about 50 miles total on it that doesn't look that shiny. That frame looks like what would happen if I spray painted my rear axle black and yes, that is what I am replacing next.

Yaaas! Clearly some painted crap over a rusted frame. Those rough patches aren’t the paint, it’s the corroded surface from the rust painted over.
