    Curious what the difference between them is and if the 89661-OC351 will work in my vehicle that had the 89661-OC350.

    A lot of times if it's just the last number that's changing, then it's revisional. But let me go in and see if one is a supercession for the other.

    Chatted with Toyota Parts dept just now and they said something about it being California Spec. He wasnt sure if 89661-OC351 would replace 89661-OC350

    No prob.

    So here is what I can tell you. See the "84" at the end of that product number? It simply means "OEM refurbished/remanufactured part". You can't buy the original (without the -84 at the end)

    If we go by this, taken from McGeorge's Toyota dealership parts site, We can reasonably infer, based on the "Replaces" note you see below (left oval), that the parts rollout for those ECU went something like this:
    • 89661-0c350 => Original ECU, v1
    • 89661-0c350-84 => Remanufactured ECU, v1
    • 89661-0c351 => Updated ECU, v2
    • 89661-0c351-84 => Remanufactured ECU, v2
    You *should* be able to use that ECU as a replacement for your current one, but friendly disclaimer: I don't work for Toyota, I'm not a Toyota parts professional, and I am a human who makes mistakes. I am providing this info with no guarantee, proceed at your own risk. I'm just sharing: The part numbering and how it's displayed in the parts system **suggests** the part ending in '51' is a newer iteration of the part ending in '50'.

    The trucks going to CA had different emissions setup or tuning, from what I've gathered. This usually shows up on your spec sheet (if applicable) that's available at the Toyota Owners website, after you register for an account and assign your VIN to yourself. Usually shows up as, like, 'All 50 state emission' or similar? I've seen it on some member trucks here.

    I don't believe it'll have an impact, and if your current ECU is bad or potentially faulty, and you wanted to test, if it were my truck, I'd personally feel very confident swapping out.

    I'd print this out and take it to your dealership, OP (and shifty's subsequent answer), and get them to confirm.

    Ps - with the emissions thing, this is how my '06 option code looks - I swear there's a similar code if the truck was for sale in CA, I believe it says "CA emissions" or "ULEV" or similar, but I came up empty on trying to find where someone else had it. It says something similar in the gas door also, I think?
