If I put on the black overlay emblems over the chrome one on the fender, door, tailgate are they "permanent" meaning will they mess up the emblems they are covering or mess up the body if I were to ever try taking them off?

I would say they are Semi-permanent. They use an automotive grade adhesive to hold onto the chrome badges. I imagine you could probably pry them off but would probably leave residue on the emblems or crack the overlays coming off. I've never regretted doing the black overlays on my cars and have always left them
