    Hey everyone,

Looking to get a camper shell with windoors on my 2014 double cab. My options here are ARE or LEER. LEER is about $500 more, so not a trivial difference (about 2k vs 2.5k).

Does anyone have a 3rd gen with an ARE with windoors, preferably double cab? I have seen two kinds around on trucks in general: ones that have the windoor fit the cutout (bottom), and ones that have a cutout shaped for the plain window but the windoor doesn't fit (top), leaving an odd gap that seems cheap to me. This bothers me so wondering if anyone can help me out.

These seems not to fit (in my mind) and would quietly annoy me:

This seems to fit the recess properly, but most aren't like this:

I have an ARE on a crew max that has the window on the side that opens. I think that is what you are referring to, but can’t answer your questions as the pictures don’t show for me.

Thanks, I think I fixed the links. In trying to find the original images (I had them pasted into an email and the links broke), I think figured it out... as CX series has the different cutout, and V series has the matching cutout.

I thought that only the base model offered the windoor option.

You can order either type of Windoor standard or more expensive Windoor with Slider in it as an upgrade.
I think it is all just whatever you need or prefer in the end.
I will never sleep in mine or carry dogs so the standard Windoor are fine for me.

Where I am it is the exact opposite too ARE is more money than Leer.

But it is also tough to be sure you are ordering the equal level of camoper in the first place too?
An entry level of one brand will also be less than a fancier level of another brand and unless the same dealer can explain it to you and you can beleive what they say you have to research on your own to really understand the differences.

If you are looking at a Fiberglass shell I think the ARE looks a lot better than the Leer in the way the cab side matches the slope of the Cab where the Leer just seems like some more random angle every time that I have seen one.

I have an ARE overland. I dont think they make that model anymore. The window itself looks like the first picture and fits like the second picture. I had an older ARE without one and am glad I got it this time. It makes getting stuff out of the bed a lot better.
