I installed my ARB Breather Kit last weekend. Took a little longer for me to install because I was looking for the best way to route the hose behind the driver's side tail light. Didn't want anything pinching or cutting the hose.

I initially wanted to install it because I had some "weeping" around the rear differential. Toyota looked at it and didn't see anything wrong. Asked if I went off road or in some water. Said no.

From what I found, if that Breather gets clogged, the heat cannot go anywhere and builds up. Eventually it finds a place to leave and that's through the gasket area. Causing the weeping.

I found a place in the frame where I put a grommet and fed the hose through there.

I zip tied it to the underside of the bed and ran it down to the Breather with about 10 to 12 inches of slack for flexing. I initially had alot more hose just zip tied to different parts of the differential, but decided against it. I didn't want the hose pulling anything off if the truck flexed too much.

I'm wondering if I have enough slack for flexing? I have a 3 inch Icon lift.

Pic 1 shows that I initially had alot of slack. May be too much. Pic 2 shows what I cut it down to ( between 10 to 12 inches).

It was an easy install. So waiting to see if this helps.

I did something similar. Bought $12 worth of OEM parts and done.

When I did mine, I just zip tied it onto this cable going to the rear end. Figured it had enough play, that I should be ok. No issues and i've had mine for over 2 years installed.

Do you have to have the ARB label valve thing? I believe the guys on Tacomaworld.com would just run it up to the taillight and leave the open end of the hose there.

You need something on the other end. Keep stuff out. Google tundra rear end breather mod. There is a OEM nipple that screws to the rear end. Then there is a OEM breather for the other end or you could reused the threaded one you removed. Like I said, it cost me like $12 for both the Toyota nipple & breather. About 5-6 ft of 5/16-3/8 hose and done.

Ahhh nevermind me. I went back and scrolled through some. Yes they have some form of fittings on theirs. Many even use ARB lol :anonymous:

Thanks, yeah i figured it should be okay. I was worried because while I was down there I realized my brake like was no longer bolted to the rear differential. Not sure if the shop who did the lift or added my add a leaf to the leaf springs left it off. I know the brake line is limited in length. Wondered if the brake line was too short how much slack I needed for the breather hose.
