Howdy all, I just picked up a 07 DC 5.7 4x4 with the tow package. She's got 216xxx on the clock, a bit rough around the edges but I see a diamond in the rough lol. I've been replacing the all the fluids as usual with a "new" vehicle.

I've been heavily researching the trans service procedures. My question is have any of you folks ever seen anything caught in the trans filter? I feel confident in doing the entire system and filter myself but a local dealer will do the full "fluid exchange" for like $280 so not bad considering it would be like $170 for the fluid after tax for me locally. But no dealer or shop seems to want to open the pan and change the filter. Would it be a waste of time and money to exchange fluids without a new filter/screen? If I wait and do it myself I'd definitely drop the pan and filter but I'd kinda like the dealer to do it since it's sealed and a fair price. Not sure of the ol gal has ever had the trans fluid changed, she shifts like a champ and no slippage though. Some folks online say it's a waste of time to drop the pan and do the filter of the Tundra, others make it seem crucial. What are all your experiences? Is much crap caught in the filter usually? Any input is greatly appreciated!
