Anyone with SR5 TRDOR wish they got a Limited TRDOR

I am a prospective 2.5 gen owner and starting my research. I am between a 2021 SR5 TRDOR or 2021 Limited TRDOR. There seems to be a lot more used SR5s than Limiteds available on dealer lots. I’m leaning towards a Limited but wondering if I need to keep my options open for a SR5 but not sure if I will regret it. Any SR5 owners wish they went with a Limited?

I’m aware Limited is standard softex leather and optional in an SR5. Are there any differences in materials on the doors, dash, panels? Acoustic glass?

I have SR5, but never cross-shopped a limited (none was even available when I got it).
Honestly, most people here would mod the truck almost as soon as we get it, SR5 would pain me less to swap out parts than a Limited.
Now, it does have some nice features/setup, whether that's worth the extra pennies is up to you.
I personally feel that a truck is not to be a luxury vehicle. It is meant to be used and be nice about it.
But nothing wrong with getting something nicer, just comes down to how much are you willing to part it for.

I went with SR5 specifically for the front bench seat. Only drawback is the smaller gas tank.

I wish I had a limited because you could get it in the wind chill pearl color and the it had the powered seat bottom thigh support. Summer 2021 was a crap time to be buying vehicles so I got what was available.

Acoustic glass wasn’t a thing in this generation Tundra.

You could option an SR5 to close to a Limited, but you’ll be more likely to find a limited than a fully optioned out SR5.

I have SR5 (+ SR5 Upgrade pkg) TRDOR, wife has TRD PRO Sequoia, which is built on top of Limited. I miss nothing. In fact, any Toyota's attempt into luxury is laughable.

I actually wish I've got a basic SR5 or even SR, with the front bench seat. It would be one more sleeping place. Perhaps, more comfortable than the rear bench in my DC.

The middle seat on bench isn’t the best as far as seats go, it has storage under seat cushion and in the backrest/center console. But, it is one more seat with a belt for the occasional extra passenger. It’s not a true bench like an older truck. Wouldn’t be comfortable to lay across.

Neither does the rear bench, especially in DC, but I've spent countless nights over there. Wish it was tad wider.

I’ll shoot this the opposite direction. I’ve got the Limited TRD OR. Things I could live without but enjoy? Dual climate is nice. Sunroof is nice, I like the extra light and being able to crack this B wide open on a nice day. Leather is nice and easier to clean than cloth. Heated seats are nice. The LED headlights are nice. Not sure there’s much else to the limited though. Leather is the only dealbreaker in that list for me and it can be had in the SR5. Bench seat would be awesome, but I hear it deletes the 38 gallon fuel tank. Dealbreaker for me. So SR5 with leather and LED headlights would fit the bill.

My SR5 has LED lights... Manual climate and cloth seats are fine for me, after decade(s) in Volvo with a very good automatic climate (better than in TRD PRO Sequoia) and real leather seats (not artificial rubber leather). In fact, manual climate lasts longer because it is not constantly adjusting on its own, wearing out those parts that you won't be able to buy new when they break. This is not something you think of today, but I plan to drive that truck to death. Also I like my cloth seats with WekOkole neoprene covers. Resist spilled liquids, not too hot in summer, not too cold in winter. Butt never gets damp, unlike on "leather" in Sequoia or real leather in Volvo.

I understand why people want a Limited. In fact, it took me about a year after purchase of Tundra to recalibrate my perception of what a good vehicle is. Upscale interior is appealing, but having a basic one is not the end of the world. I'm now in a "the simpler the better" camp, loaded up with knowledge why it is better, after endless months spent under the Volvo ;) If it does not bother me with repairs, it is a good vehicle.

TRD Off Road gets LED headlights. It's not the limited trim, but the TRD packages that adds that.

'19 SR5 w/TRD OR Pkg here, just fine with me. (I had a '00 before this, so this is a pretty big jump in tech and features as is)

Heated seats would be nice, as would dual zone climate, but not needed enough to make me want to jump to higher trims. I don't want to lose any payload to sunroofs, etc.

I have a '21 SR5 with SR5 upgrade and TRD Off Road packages. It adds the LED headlights, push-button start with smart handles, dual climate, and a plastic fuel tank skid.

My neighbor has a '20 Limited TRD Off Road. There are a few things his truck has that mine does not:
    • sunroof
    • BSM/RCTA
    • leather seats
    • front seat heaters (an absolute must if you have leather)
    • fake wood trim on the dash and doors

When I bought mine, I really didn't want a sunroof. I thought I would miss the leather, but my cloth seats are fantastic and never too hot or cold. We have a small wet vac that is perfect for keeping them clean, too.

These trucks are far more alike than different.

    I got a '17 SR5 + Upgrade package.

I looked at others in higher trims. But I am a simple guy. It had what I wanted, no nannies, cloth seats, power drivers seat, 38 gal tank.

Best thing to do is drive both of possible and weigh the extra cost of limited, if any.

I was looking SR5 TRDOR with the SR5 upgrade package and bought Limited TRDOR with the Premium package because when I found the vehicle with all the features I wanted, in the condition and price I wanted it just happened to be Limited.

Dual zone climate and leather seats weren't a big deal to me but I'm not griping about them either - I do like the power back window though.

    Nope!

I went with a TRD Sport because of the paint matched bumpers, bulges, etc.
I also didn't want the leather or the chrome of the Limited.

The TRD Off-road package also has chrome.

I knew I'd be changing suspension at some point, so I didn't care about the stiff Sport suspension.

Unfortunately the Sport still came with parking sensors and all that assistant crap, and dual climate control. I don't care for that. My side is always on cold, while my wife always has her side on like 80 something. Of course the hot air still comes to my side. I hate that.

I think I may be in the minority here, but I actually don't like leather seats.

They're hot in the summer and they stick to my skin if I'm wearing shorts, which is most of the time.

In winter (the real one, with frostbites and frozen alcohol) it's no better. In best case there's a sheep skin. In worst - you are jumping around the car until your frickin' leather seat heater actually heats it up.

That’s funny, I never wanted leather being in El Centro and then Yuma. Too hot. You learned how to drive with two fingers on the wheel moving them around until a/c finally kicks in.
Now in VA I still don’t think I’d like leather because of being humid and sticky in spring/summer.
I do check local junkyards every so often for a 38 gal tank though.

There are two grades of SR5
The SR5 upgrade package has the 38 gallon tank and probably something else, maybe power driver seat?

    I own one

Another difference is SR5 comes standard 26 gallon gas tank while limited comes with 38 gallons. Sounds nice to have longer range with the larger tank and less visits to the pump. What are your thoughts for those with the 26 is it annoying?

Does the larger tank come with TRDOR package on the SR5?

You can still get the 38 gal tank on the SR5 if it has the SR5 Upgrade Package (which sounds repetitive but that's what they call it)

Sequoia with 24 gal tank is very annoying. I pee less than it drinks.

Are there tell tale signs if a SR5 has the larger tank? I’m going through the 2021 brochure and it’s not the easiest to follow but I think front bench style seat is 26 and front bucket seat is 38. Did I get that right?

Big tank was standard on Limited up. And SR5 with SR5 upgrade package.

When in doubt, look under the truck. The tank runs pretty much from the rear seats to the rear axle. It is not small.

Aside from looking up the VIN or having an original/reprinted window sticker one sure way to tell is crawl under the truck and look at the gas tank - 38 gal tank has 3 straps, 26 gal has 2 straps.
