Are those powder coated a darker color than stock? It's hard to tell without the rings on there. Looks sweet either way!!

Thanks! I stripped them then did primer/graphite duplicolor wheel paint/two part epoxy clear coat. Most I’ve gotten a hold of in the wild needed major refreshing, often the ring bolts won’t come out either so have to drill those.

Just had a Bilstein 5100 2.5” lift with 35” Toyo R/T trails and 17” 703 Methods. 35X12.50R17 0 offset. Love it so far.

Haha these ones I got from ebay from a guy in Florida. He seemed to have removed them early on in their life and kept them inside, they are time stamped as originals which was surprising. I ended up getting 3 sets of rock warriors over the years and refurbing them. Only 10 were salvageable and only 4 of those were “good” quality, the rest needed bolts drilled or significant corrosion etc.

I had these installed today. 255/75 R17 Cooper Discoverer Road +Trail AT on Method 314s. 17x7.5 +25 offset wheels so they stick out just a touch past the flares. I wanted to stick with OE overall diameter and tire width and these worked out perfectly IMG_4982.jpg IMG_4983.jpg IMG_4984.jpg

So my general takeaway from this thread is that yes you can run 17” wheels on the 2.5. But my gut is still looking for a little extra confirmation on my own particular case before I pull the trigger. I got a 2014 Limited Crewmax with the 5.5ft bed, running 18” wheels right now and 17” is the goal but I have upgraded drilled rotors. So in general I’m just unsure if the brakes would conflict with the 17s or if they would clear?

A local tire highly rated shop said 2.5 Gen Tundras are very difficult to fit in stock form and many wheels, whether 17” or 18”, will not work (partially due to the huge +60mm offset with the stock wheels) and told me my best bet was to check with tirerack.com what would fit. I did that and they claimed my Method 314s were the only 17’s they had in stock that would work on my truck in stock form. Good thing is I love those wheels so it was an easy decision.

That whole thing with the offset was exactly what people were telling me about and had me worrying about. But if it worked for you then I guess I’ll give it a try. Can always just resell the wheels back on FB marketplace if it won’t work lol.

There are 25 pages worth of posts and pics on this thread documenting that certain 17s will fit on 2007-2021 Tundras. The main challenge in fitting 17s is being able to clear the large OEM brake calipers. A few 17s do, while many don’t. Icon developed 17s specifically to clear the large Tundra OEM brake calipers, but there are a few others, like Method wheels, for instance, that also clear the calipers.

As for offset, the right offset helps to clear larger than stock tires without rubbing or with lift and cutting of plastic surrounding the inner wheel well. Less offset means more rubbing and cutting with bigger tires, and stock offset can cause rubbing on the upper control arm or skid plate with bigger tires. I believe +25 to +35 offset may be the sweet spot, but if you’re willing to push in or cut/remove more plastic than less offset will work as well.

FWIW, I’m currently running 17” Icon Rebound wheels on 315/70/17 BFG ATs with 1.9” lift on Bilstein 6112s up front on stock upper control arms. The wheels easily clear the calipers. I had some minimal rubbing on the front plastic piece and rearward mud flaps, both of which I removed.

Forgot to add. There’s a big brake kit available for the 2-2.5 gen Tundras with a larger brake caliper that will not allow fitment of 17s. In fact, it may not even allow fitment of 18s, but I could be wrong about that. So if you’re thinking of ever upgrading to the big brake kit, then that’s something to consider when choosing wheel size.

That’s what I was worried about, my tundra has upgraded brakes, new calipers and drilled rotors so I’m worried as to whether it would clear a set of 17s

I could be wrong, but I don’t think replacement aftermarket rotors would affect fitment. Aftermarket calipers might not fit if they’re not the same size as OEM, though. Do you know what brand and kind of calipers you have?

As for the Tundra TRD big brake kit, I’ve never seen it in person, but when I looked at it online years ago out of curiousity, I noticed the kit was fairly expensive, in the thousands of dollars:

    https://autoparts.toyota.com/products/product/trd-high-performance-big-brake-kit-ptr0900150

Is that what you have? If so, then it doesn’t appear 17s will fit. As I said earlier, a few 17s fit over the OEM brake calipers. However, I’ve read on here how one or two folks shaved some metal off the OEM caliper to get whatever other 17” wheel to fit. Not sure if that’s a good idea, but with 17” wheels on the market that already do fit over the calipers (like my Icon Rebounds), I’d suggest getting one of those wheels instead, assuming your aftermarket calipers are the same size as OEM.

I'm running Alpha Echo 17" X 8.5" with +25mm offset. I removed the little front mudflap, and have a 2" leveling kit in the front. No rub and looks like I 'll be able to increase the size of the tire when it comes time for new. Tires are BFGoodrich 275/70/17. I'm not a huge fan of the tires, but they are what came on the wheels when I bought them.

So from my understanding going through this thread, I should be good on my stock height 2.5 gen with 305/70r17 with a wheel around a +20 offset with only minor trimming in the wheel liner?

it's wheel and tire upgrade time. 2019 limited with TRD off road package, stock height.
how big can I go with keeping the trimming to a minimum with 0 offset method 701s in 17"?
