So, I added wireless charging to my Tundra a year ago with a 3D printed part that holds a generic Qi charger and one that holds an Apple MagSafe Puck. Both these pucks work great in the house to charge my old Apple XR. Good charge rate, phone barely gets warm.

But in the truck it is not good. The phone gets really hot and the charge at best stays at the level when I put it on the charger. Did an experiment and turned wireless CarPlay off on the phone and, voila, the chargers work perfectly, just as in the house. Charges right up, barely gets warm.

Are you guys with newer phones seeing this issue? Or have they improved the Qi charging efficiency and/or reduced the power drain with wireless CarPlay? I am getting a new phone today and will test it as soon as I can. Are Androids better in this respect?
