When i bought my used tundra it wasnt certified because of open recall on the fuel neck. I knew about the small percentage issues with the motor so i wanted to get a warranty. I bought toyota platinum warranty for 10years/100,000 miles and received the attached paperwork from the salesman saying i would get a full refund on the warranty if i didnt use it within the time and miles window. Anyone else get a paper like this?

thats a 3rd party warranty, easy to tell by the bottom right, wtf is reynolds and reynolds company?

did a lookup of that name, thats the company that provides the business form paper.

yeah toyota usa wouldnt have that on official paperwork. there is a reason its not certified toyota as certified toyota usa paperwork would have toyota logo's on it and other toyota labeling.

and the logo up top is just the toyota dealership logo

I have the platinum warranty with official toyota paperwork. The reason i posted this is because that document was provided to me at the dealership.

your post reminds me of the movie dumb and dumber when they are trying to figure out the name of the chick that lost her briefcase. “Ah, says it right here, Samsonite”.

I have a full 10 year 100K warranty from Toyota, have a warranty card & info that came from Toyota, in a Toyota envelope. No certificate like that, never seen one of those before. Probably a dealer thing.

Yeah i didnt know about being able to negotiate a price for the toyota warranty. Live and learn. I keep my vehicles for 10-15 years, so i think im going to ride this out and if i dont need any major warranty work try to get the refund in 2033. Still waiting to get scheduled for the fuel neck and engine replacement recalls.

That's looks like an internal document and Reynolds is the name of the DMS. TMIS should be Toyota motor insurance.

Am I reading this correctly? It says you are eligible to get a refund if you never have to use it? So if you go 10 years and 100,000 and don't ever have to make a claim, you get your money back? This seems a bit shady.

This is 100% not a Toyota Platinum warranty.

I dont disagree. This was my first toyota so i just assumed it was part of the deal. After scouring the internet and not finding any details, i am assuming it is just a dealership specific incentive as part of my deal. Shady or not, guess who will be going to the dealership in 2033 with my warranty paperwork and this document.

Doubtful in 2033 the third party warranty company will still be around. The financials don't add up. Either they pay out for a claim that will likely be greater the the premium or they return your money? Where is their profit?

Most Toyota warranties qualify for a prorated refund based on time and mileage. That's not the warranty paperwork I'm used to seeing but it's probably just an internal document. I'd call the finance manager that did your paperwork and ask.

I also have the warranty paperwork from toyota with a roadside service card and expiration date. It has my agreement number but it also shows my personal info and vin number, otherwise i would post it also. It is a standard toyota platinum warranty packet. I think i might bring that document next time im in for service. Like i said before, i just assumed it was a standard toyota thing. All things considered, its not a huge financial risk for toyota to offer this incentive. I have to not sell or total my truck for 10 years. Many people are incapable of that. I plan on keeping this truck until i retire in 2036.

I’d be worried about that line 2 lines above signatures that says NEW vehicle purchase and that there’s no VIN on the paperwork.

hopefully it works out for you, that’d be cool.

That definitely crossed my mind. The “new” vehicle warranty does apply to any vehicle less than 36 months old and less than 36,000 miles so even my warranty paperwork is for a “new” vehicle. I found one other thread on the internet with someone getting this same refund form. I was hoping a salesman or dealer rep or even someone that got the same form would chime in. The only info i commonly see is for prorated cancellations.

If you've received the warranty book and stuff from Toyota I'd say you're pretty safe. It should have the warranty type on it. Platinum, gold, blah blah blah and the duration. If it is a platinum or gold warranty from Toyota it's actually a really good warranty. Cheap peace of mind with all the electronics.

I do have it, platinum, i feel the same way. Paid cash for the truck, and have piece of mind if my eventually new engine blows up im not out 15-20k to replace it.

Depending on your state, some of the warranty info should be printed on your bill of sale.

Reason for it stating "new" can be for a couple reasons. When looking up warranties in the manual it different tiers. If the vehicle you bought was "used" but still under the 3/36 manufacturer warranty, Toyota I believe, lets them sell a "new car" warranty.
Edit: Or it literally could be a standard internal form.
