2014 Tundra 4x4 5.7L DC; Bilstein 6112s @ 1.9"; 35x12.50 Nitto Ridge Grapplers on 20x9 wheels with +25 backspacing; DV8 front & rear bumpers, Engo 12k winch (SOLD) 2005 Tundra RC 4.7 4x4 w/3" spacer, addicted offroad tube winch bumper w/9k Engo, homemade sliders, skid row skid plate, 285/75r16 Cooper AT3, Detroit trutrac in rear.
So I have been running 285/75r16 tires for years on my 2005 Tundra. It's a reg cab long bed, so it's a bit lighter weight than most of y'all's trucks and has the 4.7L (high output) V8. I can roast the 285/75r16s even after I had the Detroit Trutrac installed. The lightest tire I can find is Cooper AT3s and that's what I currently run and I have loved them. They do great on the road, ice, rain and when aired down to 20 Psi, do well on rocks. Anyways, I need more ground clearance to get up some of these rock ledges and I've read about people running 35x12.50s on these 1st gen Tundras, so I figured 285/75r18 (34.5x11.50) should be easier. I have already cut the rear fenders up 1 foot for increased departure angel. I have a addicted off-road front tube bumper so the bumper won't be a issue. I don't mind taking hammer to anything I need to, to shape or flatten something. If all else fails, I will bust out the cutting wheel. My truck is very modified at this point. I would like to purchase some new 18 wheels and widen the stance a little so when I am trying to turn tight trails on the side of a steep hill at a 40 degree angle, the truck doesn't feel so tippy. So if anyone has any feedback onto the correct (or widest) offset I can run on a 18 wheel, especially with a 34.5"x11.50 tire, I would greatly appreciate the info. By the way, the difference in weight between my current 285/75r16 tires and the 285/75r18 tires is only 5 lb per tire difference. Thank you for any guidance in advance.

Also just in case anyone points it out, I have a 1.5" AAL kit from Toytec that I have not yet installed in the rear which will bring the rear back up to level. I recently built a tool box with slide out drawers the entire length of my bed, but allowed me to move the majority of my tools (about 350 lbs worth), over the rear axle which helped with traction and balanced out my truck while rock crawling. So the rear sits a little low now. The 1.5" lift will bring it back up.

Cypress (NW Houston). Thanks. I've owned it for over 10 years. I have done a lot of mods to it over the years. Pretty much running out of stuff to do. If I put a front locker and regear it, short of a solid axle swap (yeah I've been researching it) there won't be anything left to do.

Are you missing a lug nut on your rear wheel?

Pretty sure that the nut that is a generic "open" lug nut I got from the Napa. It's the same thread pitch and size as the factory lug nuts, just much shallower so it sits further down in the wheel. Good looking out though

My truck had a true dual setup with magna flow exhaust from the previous owner (it was a 72 year old man believe it or not) when I purchased it 10 years ago. So I've never known what it was like without it. It also had a cold air intake on it that sealed to the inner fender and hood, but I traded a guy it for a straight swap for the factory setup as the cold air intake was very prone to sucking in water. The factory setup is much safer for deep water.

What year is your Tundra? Since mine is a 2005 and has the additional HP and 5 speed, I've never felt lacking for power. Although I've always chose lightweight tires to help offset the larger diameter.

I'm still surprised the 03 seems faster than your 06. My cousin has a 2004 4x4 and mine is the 2005. His is all stock, and even with my three 1/4" steel skid plates, front and rear aftermarket bumpers, 9k winch with steel cable, 350 lbs of tools, 150 lb tool box, and 285/75r16 tires, I can SMOKE him in a race... It's pretty bad too. But maybe that's the difference between a double cab and a regular cab as well.
