Anyone Else Noticing an Odd Speedometer Lag in the 3rd Gen Tundra?

    Hey everyone,

I’ve been driving my 2022 Tundra for a while now, and I’ve come across something that caught my attention while on the road. I wanted to ask if anyone else has experienced this or has any thoughts to share.

Here’s the issue: when I’m accelerating quickly, like merging onto a highway or overtaking another vehicle, it feels like there’s a slight delay in how the speedometer shows the actual speed. It’s not something that throws me off completely, but it’s noticeable enough that I’m starting to wonder if it’s just me or if it’s a characteristic of the truck.

For context, the speedometer is the tool that tells us the vehicle’s current speed, and in modern systems like the Tundra’s, it often incorporates virtual speed tracking for vehicles. This means it gathers data from sensors and other inputs to calculate and display the speed digitally. It’s designed to provide accurate, real-time information, but I’ve noticed what feels like a lag in this process. Could this be due to how the sensors are calibrated or the way the tool processes data?

What’s interesting is that this seems to happen most during quick accelerations. I tried experimenting a bit—using different drive modes, such as Sport and Eco, and even while towing—and the delay seems consistent. I wouldn’t say it’s a major issue, but it did make me curious about what could be causing it.

Has anyone else noticed something similar in their Tundra? Could it be related to the tool itself or something else like system updates or even driving conditions? I’d love to hear your experiences or ideas about this.

    Looking forward to the discussion!

If your referring to the dial speedometer vs the electronic reading I noted the electronic display is a little slower to respond with rapid changes in speed.

When I'm using CarScanner to monitor temps I have had to find a speedo gauge that worked correctly. Picking the wrong one and the gauge would jump from zero to actual speed and do this constantly like a regular pulse. Not sure if it's the CarScanner app or the pulse of the Tundra that makes it do that.

Besides, when I'm merging on interstate or passing, I'm watching traffic, not the speedo.
