The best way I can describe it, is the radio head loops Bluetooth disconnected connected and usually with a bit of finicking with the head unit and my phone I get a solid connection.

I have had it happen a few times, usually it is caused from me not giving the truck long enough to connect before I put it in gear.

It also disconnects and flaps for me. I haven't tried android auto but my Bluetooth was working fine in a 2017 tacoma never had one disconnect issue.

My Bluetooth has been very very reliable the past 3 months, i think they fixed it now. It was terrible before - took Bluetooth a couple minutes to pair up before playing music

Not sure if you do this, but it seems like if you have the phone plugged into USB port it messes with android auto connection. I have no issues just going bluetooth

My Android Auto gets disconnected once in a while wireless or USB. Kind of frustrating especially when I'm on the phone.

I just took my truck in for the recall to the infotainment system. They were able to flash it and fix whatever issue there was with it, mine did not ever go blank so it never affected me. But now I am having serious issues with android auto. It use to connect right as I got in and start playing whatever I was listening to the last time I was in the truck. Now when I get in it will connect but none of my apps will work until I unlock my phone. At that point it will either start working like normal or disconnect altogether and I will have to go into settings, select my phone, and turn on Android auto again for it to connect. Also, when it is working it constantly loses signal and pauses whatever music I am listening to and sometimes it will Start playing again and other times it won't work at all. Anyone having similar issues?

I have this same issue and have been fighting with the dealership about it. They have ordered me a new head unit and I had an appointment today. Dropped it off at 9am and called at 4pm to get an update.....they sent the wrong unit and never called to tell me they weren't doing it. Getting them to acknowledge this and the door wind noise issue has been a nightmare.

I didn’t spend the money to just swap out stuff.
Ever since I unselected using my phone for carplay and chosen the other 2 options (calls and media), my iphone randomly drops bluetooth connection. The reason I unselected carplay was that it uses wifi and sometimes I hotspot my phone for my work laptop (only way around that is using wired USB connection). I like to use the native toyota NAV/Music apps but why they gotta do me like this???

After 10 to 20 seconds my call is getting muted when using apply CarPlay. 23 sequoia. It does the same thing on 2 different iPhones while being connected wirelessly. To correct you have to manually use the phone to get back on the call. Any ideas?

I’ll be going in for the 5k maintenance by the end of the year, I’ll inquire then. If you find anything out let me know!

Mine isn't plugged in at all it's always wireless, its the Bluetooth that keeps disconnecting randomly and looping and then sometimes as you start the truck you won't be able to play any kind of music/audio from your phone for several minutes.

I notice if I shut the truck off entirely, turn it back on its quicker then waiting for the bluetooth loop sometimes. It's very annoying..

You would think for a 2023 these type of issues would be long fixed ago. I had a 2008 Tacoma, no bluetooth issues ever, I had a 2017 tacoma no bluetooth issues ever, its the 2023 tundra that has issues with it. The same phone in my pops silverado instantly connects with 0 drop issues on a 800KM trip easily.

For the S&Giggles out of it, I even connected a S22 Ultra to it, and I am able to replicate the issue quickly.

I have tried factory resets which was a nightmare all on its own contacting toyota to re'activate my navigation.

My Apple CarPlay works 95% of the time. On long road trips, it will lose connection after a few hours and sometimes struggle to reconnect. Usually it hops right back on, though. There is one spot on the freeway south of Denver on the way to Colorado Springs (just before you get to Castle Pines) that it always cuts out. I'm not sure if it's just a timing coincidence, or some signal bug. Normally for long trips I'll just plug it into the USB just below the screen (not sure why they didn't put that down where the phone actually sits ...) and I'll have zero issues.

It's funny you say this, because if I had to narrow down what I believe the cause to be is,

If you're in a weak cell area, the truck's LTE services barely connect and jar out the system. Because Ill even go HEY toyota sometimes and I get a "systems busy" instead of "how may I help?" So there could be a link with the radio software jarring the bluetooth out to why some people have this issue and some not. Some may just be in better cell coverage areas then we are. I noticed I was travelling in a 2.4KM tunnel and lost bluetooth there as well.

And yes, I know how bluetooth works, its direct comm between cell / radio but I believe it's the system jarring out as a whole.

100% - folks tend forget that people programmed this thing, likely some contractors who were the lowest bidder. Plus, bugs like this are hard to isolate much less replicate. I'm a software engineer - we get bug reports all the time that happen few and far between, have very little details from the user submission, and despite our best attempts we can't replicate. If I can't replicate it, I can't possibly know what's going on, and so any patch I write is just a best guess as to what may be happening.

    None, yet
VPN on my phone seems to be the root of most my issues. Maybe impacting others as well?

I use the Google1 VPN and it has a bypass feature and Android Auto is on it. It should be bypassing VPN, but still have inconsistent connectivity with my phone and head unit.
