    Have a question for someone who is a tax preparer...

    How do you file a claim against a tax preparer? I imagine he/she would have E&O insurance and/or professional liability insurance, correct?

    Any help would be great, thanks.

    That's a tough trek. Was there obvious negligence? Do you think they can prove due diligence? Was the error significant in penalty?

    Don't want to go down a rabbit hole for a small chance.

    They SHOULD have E&O insurance. The firm I am with was self-insured for a long time. Usually one-man-band shops will have E&O and then bigger firms. Many middle market firms opt out because of cost/risk.
