Has anyone done an electric fan retrofit? or found away to silence the jet engine roar when starting the engine?

    Thanks

I just ignore it. If you can’t do that you’re probably out of luck.

What?! You don't like the reassuring, enthusiastic, energetic response from your Tundra wanting to get the day underway?! :D

......or you could just unplug the fan. If the transmission can do without cooling so can the motor.

My neighbor has an '08 RCLB, and I can hear him start his truck every morning @ 5 AM - the fan is that loud, and I like it.

Flex lite used to have a kit for the first gen I think, if you want to do a retrofit, please use OEM stuff, newer (2019+) 5th gen Ram 1500 uses factory e-fan and it has pretty high cfm.

The Tundra fan isn't loud. Let me assure you. The 06 RAM 2500 Diesel fan.... now THAT sucker is loud. And it too has the morning fan roar. Can't wait to get out of this truck and in my new one.

I was surprised it still had a mechanical fan too!! I've only had my new Tundra for about a month now, and I wasn't sure why it was stupid loud after a cold start until I looked under the hood and seen the fan....it gets much quieter after a few minutes. Shocked Tundra is still using them!

    - Seems every vehicle I've owned since around 1998 has electric fan(s) from the factory.....except for this truck.

EDIT: Only solution I know of is to remove the mechanical fan and replace with electric fans (and shroud)....but unless it's triggered on/off by the PCM or something like that, they're not near as reliable.

I'm glad someone posted this - it's one of those things I try to ignore that irritates me about my truck - not as bad as the crappy plastic steering wheel - but still.
My last truck was a Silverado SS that I did an e-fan swap on from a LS1 engine - night/day, easily one of the best "performance" bolt-on's you could do. Especially since it is relatively cheap with plug and play harnesses made by multiple companies and even easier to tune into the ECU. I'm REALLY surprised someone hasn't done this.

The sound doesn't really bother me - it's just a lot of wasted energy that in my previous experience freed up a decent amount of power.

If you are concerned about the fan pulling horsepower away from the motor you are staring at bigger issues that need addressing.
