So a bit of background, I've owned 3 different Toyota "mini trucks", just as 2nd vehicles, something to haul crap around with.

First one was a 1988 pickup, 2wd reg cab, 5 speed, 22-RE, it was a delux model and had a lot of sound insulation, along with that rather cool stripe along the side. It really belonged to my dad, who sold it, but I got some great miles out of it when I was 16 to 18. It was a really nice truck, great paint, ZERO rust, had a bunch of miles but was still really clean/ran great/gave me no grief.

2nd one was a beat to shit 1993 Toyota pickup, once again 2wd/5 speed/reg cab. Bought it off a friend of mine for $600, it had 150k on it, but had a slipping clutch, had been driven into the ditch, but it still drove straight and ran great. Put a new clutch, new brakes on it, broke about even at $1400 sale price, drove that sob for 20k miles and 5 years, it was a total win IMO for the service it gave me.

3rd one was my dad's old 2004 Tacoma, once again 2wd, reg cab, 4 cylinder/5 speed. It had 190k on it when I totaled in the rain due to bad tires. Still I got $6,000 for that truck, he bought it in 2004 for $12k. That was earlier this year.

I just said fuck small trucks after 8-10 years of owning them. That 2004 Tacoma was kind of what I was planning to drive for the next 5 to 9 years, rack the miles up on that sob to 300k then maybe think about retiring it. After wrecking that 2004 Tacoma, I drove 2nd gen Tacomas and 2nd gen Tundras, well bigger is fucking better IMO.
