So my next project is to update the brakes on my Double Cab, 5.7L V8. Brakes were done in the past, but I currently have just shy of 140K and when I changed out the wheels recently, my inspection of the pads revealed they were worn almost down to the audible sensor and the rotors measured .049. I am also getting a slight pulsating in the steering wheel when braking.

I used a set of Powerbrake Z36s on my last truck and was happy with them, however I do plan to tow a small 5th wheel and was wondering if I am best sticking with OEM rotors and pads (my Tundra does have the factory towing package)? Are there better options available?

I overhauled my whole braking system, i just used Carquest platinum pads and rotors, so far so good, stops great, no noise, and doesn't shake. I got new calipers too, one of the piston was seized on each caliper.

I just wirebrushed the frame and hit it with some undercoating spray to protect against the NE winters.

Stoptech rotors - blanks or slotted, and EBC Yellow Stuff pads. Take the bed-in procedure seriously and you'll be left with a strong set of brakes that dont stink and fade like the stockers. I went with a more aggressive pad setup last time around, carbotech actually makes a street/track pad setup thats hugely aggressive but the pads killed a set of rotors in less than 10k miles.

Went with oem Genuine Toyota rotors. First set lasted 98k miles. Good enough to go with again. Good luck. D
