I've been in the HVAC field for over 30 years! Starting to take it's toll on my body.

I've been doing hvac work for about 7 years. Did service for about five years, now I'm doing control work. Work for a union contractor in the pipe fitters union. Best employer I've ever had.

I would think that control work is not as hard on your body. I work for a non union company here in Harrisburg. Pretty big company. I think last count was around 465 employees. We are an ESOP employee owned company. There are 3 locations at this point. Although we've bought a total of 7 or 8 other hvac related companies over the last several years.

Yeah that was the intention getting into controls. Knew I wouldn't be able to do the work once I got older so as soon as I had the opportunity I took it. Still do a lot of service work but usually end up writing up parts for someone else to replace. We are owned by a general construction company and I think we have a water treatment company as well. Still a small outfit probably 25-30 people on the hvac side. They treat us well and pay is great. Don't plan on going anywhere anytime soon:).
