That place wants $42k for $5k worth of g-body malibu. I'd say that tundra is a pretty good deal.

It's ATL. Do you know how absurdly popular G-bodies are here?

I have no doubt someone with more money than sense will get close to their price on it.

So, it looks pretty cool and definitely a "SEMA" budget build. Would I like it? Hell yeah...but for about half of what they are asking. This is for someone that doesn't know any better and cannot change a tire on their own.

If I got ahold of this:

They already went through the trouble of putting glass on all four corners. Why not link the rear and do a bed cage? Get those shocks out of the danger zone and get usable flex from the rear. This is a purpose built rig tailored for more of the rock crowd. Sliders look ok and usable to protect the rockers. The back quarter panels are pretty exposed though....

    2002-toyota-tundra-custom-4x4 (4).jpg

Undercarriage looks pretty clean. The ram assist is in a failure zone for rocks and you can see they attempted to limit that with the mount on the links. Probably didn't clear the transmission.

    2002-toyota-tundra-custom-4x4.jpg

Not sure why someone would spend the money on a Diamond 9" axle and put a Toyota birfield knuckle on it. Single sheer for added breakage. This is what makes me shake my head on this build...one more thing that makes me wanna puke more...

    2002-toyota-tundra-custom-4x4 (1).jpg

So much booger welds on this build. I would be gouging and welding for a couple weeks. The axle shock mount ....damn. Guess they finally figured out the geometry.

    2002-toyota-tundra-custom-4x4 (2).jpg

This made me LOL. Fox shocks, King coil slider. Love that. Wrong secondary springs for this application. So plan on changing those out and can't even see if the secondary spring nuts are adjusted properly (obviously not) This probably rides like dog shit.

    2002-toyota-tundra-custom-4x4 (3).jpg

    Other than that...neat truck.

Yeah those coil overs needs to be re-sprung.

I think those are FJ-80 knuckles. So bigger than mini truck, but still use the same knuckle studs and I believe trunnion bearings.

Sometimes you just got to keep it in the family

This things for sale again? The frame was cut to shorten it. Not sure I’d be willing to drop that kinda money on it, even if it was done factory like.. it just seems like a bad idea cutting the middle of a c channel frame out and welding it back together

I remember back in the day watching a show called "trucks". Stacey David was the host. He took a long bed chevy and put a short bed on it. As long as they did a "Z" cut on it, it should be OK.

On the other hand, seeing those shock mount welds that TJ mentioned, I doubt that it was Z cut or welded properly.

Not until '07. The frame cut is pretty good if they took out around the carrier bearing, i squinted extra hard at the pic. Sliders are probably cosmetic. Would be neat with a bone stock grille and tall skinnies on stock 16's.

my conversion plan is a long bed AC. With a long bed trailer.

I was looking for 35x10.5x16 but couldn't find anything other than a dedicated mud tire.
