Ditched the smart phone last year, never been happier. Would like to upgrade the head unit for a little more punch and a different navigation system as the Toyota one seems to be a bit behind.

Anyone have a suggestion? I looked on Amazon and crutchfield but nothing really stands out. There are Boss (chinese) head units that have their own built in nav that gets pretty good praise but seem to get dinged for bugs and longevity.

Anyone have a head unit that does not have smart phone connectivity that they are happy with (navigation and amp wise)?

You dont have to use the Smartphone crap at all just because a radio has it.

Sadly the Sheeple seem to have spoken and I challenge you to find a modern radio that will not support them whether you want one or not?

The Nav units are also a little higher up the line usually and will most surely have that crap too.

I have rented and driven a lot of Carplay units and I can not really stand them myself but they work just fine if you never touch that choice or set them up for use with it either.

I do like decent BT phone using for making and receiving calls though and those seem to only be getting better whether you use the other stuff or not.

Some of the better units come with Garmin, but all of them are going to rely on a smart phone for traffic info.

I believe, but could be wrong, your 2019 with Nav gets its traffic data thru the HD antenna, and that does not carry over to an aftermarket unit. I'm trying to remember back when I had my OEM radio. I got weather and traffic and I never used the Entune App.

All of the units that have Carplay or AA don't depend on it, so you can just simply not use it.
