Hey all, first post. I have a 2011 Tundra. This past weekend we got hit with a surprise snowstorm. I tried opening the rear doors to load family. Both were frozen shut, and I did not pull too hard, for fear of breaking the handles. I started the truck to warm it up and went inside. I came back out a few minutes later and the truck had died. I got in it the next day when it was thawed and both back doors were latched, but not closed all the way. I tried to crank and it will sputter and try to start but won't. I suspect this is the anti-theft feature. Did it cut off the fuel pump relay or some other kind of device? How can I reset this? I only have one key. Thanks for any info or advice.

Doubt a door opening would cut it off. If there’s an afternarket alarm, it would be tied to the brakes.
Sounds like something else is the cause. How old is the battery?

The battery is just shy of three years old. All lights, radio, horn, etc are all working fine. The red "truck with key" light blinks on the dash, which is why I thought it was the anti-theft feature. Tomorrow before work I will try jumping it with my other truck. Also, no aftermarket alarm that I am aware of. In fact, I don't think it even has a factory alarm, just keyless entry.

Indeed they do, this isn't stock though. I will start with jumping it tomorrow and go from there. If it is the battery, any recommendations? And is the sputtering caused by the fuel pump not getting enough power to push fuel?

    I think it’s very possible.

OK guys, I have finally figured out (I think) what was going on with the truck. After it thawed out I checked the battery, all was good there. It actually sounded like it was out of gas. The gas gauge read a quarter tank. I thought it was probably not the issue, but I put two gallons of premium in it anyway, just to eliminate the possibility. Low and behold, it fired up after a couple seconds of cranking. I sure do feel foolish. But why would it read a quarter tank if it was out? Is the gauge faulty? Did the sending unit freeze up? I put a half a tank in it the other day and now it is reading correctly. I'm kind of leary about running it down that low again....any thoughts?

Wonder if you may have had some water in your gas. Go buy some seafoam, throw it in the tank and fill it up. It should help dry out the gas.
